I think all guitarists can play bass in an average fashion. Maybe that much is true..

Groove is something that you either have or you do not.. Plenty of guitarists, turned bass players can groove with no issues.

Solid, up to date skills for bass like tapping and 2 hand stuff etc.. Those are the meat and potatoes of the real bassist.

Vic Wooten, Stanley Jordan etc. are real bass only, type bassists.

The rest are just going through the motions..

Yea, these are bass virtuosos though. You don't compare them to "regular" bassists

Ha months ago, I saw a vid of Wooten, Marcus Miller and Clarke. It was mayhem... everyone was showing off lol

the best bass ever is in the spinal tap movie... the song "big bottom", everyone but the drummer is playing a bass, and the bassist is playing a double neck bass.. and the funny part is that the double-neck is 2 identical 4-string basses.. pointless, which made the joke that much better.

Damn.. that movie is in my top 10 funniest of all time

I have to disagree. My favorite bassline/riff is White Zombie's Black Sunshine. That girl ripped on bass. It just gets me pumped and ready to knock folks out

or worse still, going through the motions and stabbing at all of it and then using the techniques to make a unique new style that no one else can stab at, not totally sure if I have groove or not, probably not in the conventional sense, but I don't care

Must be a grain of truth about Scots being cheap-skates!

However....

I notice that Bass-wanted has a VERY respectable investment in excellent instruments and gear.

Pretty cool array of influences as well, especially for an 18 year old.

mayby a introductory premiere Bandmix account might not be such a bad idea, in this case.
