Later this year, I am helping chaparone a college group of a couple US bands on a one-week tour of pubs in London... got gigs lined up every night. The youngsters are going to do a couple of sets of originals, but the guy operating the tour asked me to do a first set of acoustic music as a warm-up.
I've been playing semi-professionally for 20+ years in the US, and know what bar crowds like to hear from acoustic guitar slinging singers. AND played in enough bar bands to know you can't escape without a rousing "Brown Eyed Girl" or "Margueritaville" in the kinds of places I play.
So... I'm wondering if there is a short list of pub standard killer acoustic tunes that an old white guy Americana front man should have at the ready for London pubs???? Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks!
