Alterhit.com in partnership with Love Music Hate Racism, are proud to announce competitions with the Big Chill and Underage Festival. This is a unique series of competitions in which the best selling artists on the site will win performance slots at the Big Chill and Underage Festivals in August 2008.

There are no judges or adjudicators, quite simply the public decide who wins by purchasing tracks from the entered bands, with the winners announced at the end of July. Entrants can keep up to date on their progress through the site’s charts which tell them how many downloads they’ve sold and how much revenue they’ve generated.

Alterhit.com is a revolutionary new music download community.
Uniquely the site asks its non-industry related users (fans to you and I) to get involved in selling music too. Alongside the social network maelstrom users will build, Friends get to earn 10% of everything sold through their user page, so if, for example, a sale comes from a user browsing the site and then purchasing a download on or through a ‘Friend’s’ page, that Friend earns 10% of the fee.

Artists sign up and upload their music which is made available for sale to the public on their unique homepage. Every track sold earns the artist around 60% of the sale value.

“At Alterhit we've created a modern way to sell your music using methods that are familiar to almost everyone”, explains co-founder Bud Atapattu, “We're building a unique community and if you make music we want you to join us”.

Alterhit has a special three pronged approach to user interfacing. You can join up as a ‘Label’, an ‘Artist’ or as a ‘Friend’ earning yourself different privileges with each account. As an ‘Artist’ you get the capability to upload your tracks and earn money directly from the sale of downloads; a ‘Label’ can affiliate itself with the artists on its roster, upload as many videos, descriptions and as much information as desired reaching a whole new set of potential fans and as a ‘Friend’ you can earn money just be recommending people music that you like!

To enter the competition budding musicians should sign up to the site as an ‘Artist’ upload their strongest tracks (that are suitable to the kind of music played at each of the festivals) and then head to the competition section of the site to enter into the running for the competition.
