Bassist looking for musicians near Ledbury...

I'm a middle-aged bass player living in Ledbury, looking for musicians, I.e. singer, drums, guitars, keyboards to play with. The bands I listen to most, e.g. Magazine, Duran Duran, Simple Minds and Japan all seem, to me, to have no obvious 'most important' instrument so I'd really like to get involved in something like that, where everyone in the band has equal importance and no one is especially prominent (except, maybe, the singer!). I'd love to be able to get to a practice, start jamming on a riff, and not end up doing 12-bar or everything being blues-scale based.
Age is not important; more important is to like similar, or complimentary music.
I also enjoy a bit of electronic music, and love synths, so a keyboard player who can do the sort of stuff Dave Formula did in Magazine would be my idea of heaven.
I'm not looking for a serious commitment, but keen to gig here and there, preferably doing original music, rather than covers. Saying that, I'm not a songwriter, but like to work with people to try to enhance their ideas with imaginative and, hopefully, interesting and appropriate bass parts. I have a limited willingness to travel, hence looking for people fairly close to me, but have a reasonable set of equipment.
If any of this sounds interesting, get in touch.
Cheers
John
