First of all, I hope this is in the right place. Apologies if not.
I work at a large London University, and we are looking for a band to record as part of our Sound Recording Course next term (Jan 2017). The idea is that our lecturer/engineer will take the students through an entire multitrack recording and mix with a band, stage by stage, in a workshop environment.
Week one will see the entire band or key players present to discuss what is needed for the project. This will be followed by a few sessions of recording, followed by overdubs.
The university will be able to pay the band members a good rate for sessions attended. This will be discussed on application. Alternatively if requested, we can ‘pay’ the band in studio time instead, or a combination of both. Probably worth noting that studio time would be the more valuable in actual terms, particularly to anyone who might be thinking of booking a studio at some point in the future. The studios here normally hire out in the Summer for £700/day.
We have outstanding studios here - Neve Genesys Black desk, plenty of live rooms, top of the range mics etc.
Key points are:
* Band members would have to be 100% reliable. Any no-shows would result in considerable disruption to the module.
* Weekly lessons would take place in either 2 x 2 hour sessions, or 1 x 4 hour sessions.
* Sessions would be Thursday mornings, starting at 09:30 (early start for some people!). Not all band members would be needed for all sessions obviously (overdubs etc)
* There would be 5 or 6 main weekly sessions covering the actual recording, starting Thurs 26th Jan 2017
* The following 5 sessions would be mixing and mastering, which would not 100% require band’s attendance, although they would be welcome of course.
* Band must consist of at least drums, bass, guitars, vox.
* Band must be well rehearsed and ready to record.
* We do not have to recording original music. Covers are perfectly acceptable.
If you are interested, please let me know, and if poss, post links to demos etc.
Thanks!
Will
