I am honared that you asked me, because I am really just starting out.
I wrote about 6 of my (secrets) for the brain dumps. I have to go out for a couple of hours. But very quickly here are a few.

1. Listen to the blues
2. Read the philosophy oh great men.
3. Layer your music, experiment.
4. Always think out of the box
5. On the palatte in your mind, draw with words like an artist on canvas.
6. Make your works strain against normallacy.
7. Nothing is new under the sun... so make the old new. Change your Paradimn (sp)
8. Go to movies

Here's my current method:

1. Drink beer.
2. BBq some pork.
3. Drink more beer.
4. Dig the lint out of my belly-button.
5. Pick my teeth with the same finger.
6. Drink more beer to wash the lint away.

And well.. That's basically it. That's my method.
