Hi folks.
I know a lot of you use MySpace for additional coverage but have you found any problems using it? I signed up thinking I had a MySpace Music account only to find it was the regular kind. So I signed up again which created an error.
Then I deleted the old account and signed in again only to find I could not use the older url
It's not that important to me since I have my own setup but it would be nice to meet other folks too who drop by.
Many cheerio thank yous.

myspace is a pure pain in the ass! They deleted my account once and it took 3 months of raising hell to get it back. Finally had to threaten to start calling the corporate office and report the guys in support; 2 days later it was back! I have had some contacts from the industry there but nothing reasonable yet. If it weren't for the music I'd never touch it again. I prefer Face Book for a social site... and BM of course!

You have to wait a day or two for them to clear that kind of info out of their system once you've deleted your account. It doesn't instantaneously do it. And yeah, you have to have a separate type of page as a musician on MySpace. I haven't had any problems with using it at all.

Just use a different email to set up the "new" account. Don't keep using the old one, it just confuses everything.
Myspace is really nice for checking out local bands/competition lol, but also good because most places we book at now just ask for myspace instead of a press kit, a lot cheaper in the long run

Myspace sucks. I know a lot of people have an account there, but I've heard too many horror stories about it. I just don't like it at all, too commercial, too many B.S. "friends" requests, too many attempts to extract money from you. I'm happy with Bandmix. I tell everybody to log on here and check the fisherman bob profile page. Works for me...

Oh dont get me wrong, I'm on myspace on both band pages daily. I dont like it but it's a necessary evil.
There are classes on myspace in some of the better music schools because it is now known as the #1 tool in music.... but I still hate it!

I just got an e-mail on myspace from a production company in Maryland wanting to use one of my songs (Incarnant) on a compilation CD.
It does have some use... of course I've had offers on myspace before... I'm still here and not on tour!

I updated my myspace with additional tunes including "Temples of Tulum" and a cover of Santana's "Europa". Check it!

Come on Hayden, April's Fools day is over. Remember the boy who cried "Wolf". I wasn't born tomorrow.

lol not foolin this time but it's no big deal. For all I know it's just another devious fuk trying to rip me off for that song; why does everybody like "that" song so much?
I dont put much stock into what is offered on myspace, or anywhere else when it comes to my music. I've had enough of scammers and arrogant music exec's to learn that lesson!

I have had no problems with Myspace, ever.
MySpace has been real good to me.
I have met hundreds of good musicians, good lyricists, good singers, and good people.
.
Someone mentioned BS friends.
Remember, as with anywhere, you can choose your friends. So I don't talk to the BS 'friends' who just want me as a number increment.
I am real, and so are my friends there. I have talked with every single one of my friends there at least once.
And . . .
I talk with between 25-30 legitimate performing artists and lyricists, and - just plain old good people - on a regular basis.
'Dis' myspace if you want, but I've met more people there than I have met here.
And everyone of them has music posted.
Maybe some people think MySpace sucks.
But I have had conversations with many "names" which you would recognize. Or sometimes conversations their daughters or sons; but I'm not a name-dropper.
There are famous and semi-famous musicians there. And record companies. . . . people just starting out, people touring, clasical guitarists, rock guitarists, fiddlers, singers, well-established lyricists.
I've talked to people from California to Nashville to Finland to Canada to Japan . . .
I'm close friends with people who've been singing the blues in clubs for 25 years, with someone who was on "Australian Idol," someone who sang at the Hollywood music awards, someone who performs on stage at a casino in Vegas 5 days a week, someone who . . . well, let's just shorten this all by just saying I talk with dozens of folks who have published and sold tons of CDs . . .
These are REAL people - and nice people, too.
.
Don't hold their success or their fame against them.
There really are nice folks on MySpace.
.
You can 'dis' MySpace all you want.
But there is no complaining, no back-stabbing no arm-chair warriors, no antagonism, no insults flying back and forth . . . not for me, anyway.
If anyone is experienceing that - then just block the jerks.
Life is too short to waste time arguing with people who don't matter.
I've rejected dozens of friends requests, after first visiting their pages and seeing who they are, and who their friends are . . .
All of my friends are good folks.
What I see on MySpace is a lot of people building careers.
And most of them are are working their butts off.
.
If you want to meet good people - join MySpace, and chose your friends carefully.

Hmmmmm
I really didn't want to start WWIII in all honesty.
I made a few mistakes when signing up initially but I know better now. I did write to them but when you figure in that its free you can hardly complain and noted too that you DO choose who you want to be associated with in any case so just don't be desperate would be the way to go right?
Peace Brothers, its just music and people.
Chippy.
