Hey everyone,
I know there has been many posts on influences
so I thought it would be fun to see what influences
you have or had that might be embarrassing.
You know the cd's or songs you listen to
when your buddies aren't around.
Well I can say that I am not ashamed to say what I like
to listen to but yes at one time I had stuff in the closet
that I would not tell people I listened to.
Here are a few influences.
Air Supply
REO Speedwagon
Take That
Michael Jackson
The carpenters
Spandau Ballet
Whitney Houston
Mandy Moore
Nsync
Debbie Gibson(shut up! lol)
Leann Rimes
Faith Hill
Martina Mcbride
(you gotta remember I was a big metal head at one time)

Ok your turn

embarassing?

Hmm.

Well, some of my more secretive influences would be:

B-52's
Heather Nova
Carpenters
The Motels
The Fixx
Adam Ant
Beethoven
Black Uhuru

I dunno.. I know there are more embarassing ones for me, can't really remember right now

ooh.. HOLE, everyone hates Courtney Love, but her first album was some of the most inspiring music I've ever heard. Trashy? yes. Slutty? yes! Lousy recording quality? YES. but RAW and damn alive IMO. I constantly defend that broad... she's a goddess to me.

I ain't embarassed. Gave up on pride years ago.

Starland Vocal Band

Monkees

KC & THe Sunshine Band (my wife introduced them to me & they ain't 1/2 bad)

Funkadelic

all sortsa bubblegum stuff from the '60's - 'twas fun & innocent

Johnny Cash

Kinks

Dave Clark 5

Cyndi Lawper

Suzanne Vega

most of what I used to get into has gone way out of style, some of it even with me...I still listen to the Box Tops, Motown, Beatles, 60's & 70's & 80's compilations...& I don't care who cares!

lol I don't think any of my interests are particularly embarrassing, mainly because a lot of people haven't even heard of them. I don't listen to mainstream pop, rock, or anything else, so I don't know if I've written anything alike to it.

there is absolutely nothing to be ashamed about claiming weird al as an influence, after all he's maintained his band and gained audience steadily in his career, as for secret influences....can't really say I have any influences I'm ashamed of...I must be weird

bbbbBackstreetboys  :P

Have you guy's noticed how many people list the Carpenters in these posts, they had a huge impact on American Music. It kind of makes you wonder how much more an impact they would have made had it not been for Karen Carpenters bout with anorexia nervosa and her untimely death. So sad.

Bach
Bethoven
Panginini
Pavorati
10cc
Paul Mcartney's silly lovesongs
Itzok Perlman
Ronnie Milsap
