Are there any still around? I love classical music just as much as I do bands like Yes and Genesis, songs with lyric and content like a story if you know what I mean?
I have some tracks that I've been working on for about 12 years (Don't laugh),

its true but they are just guitar tracks at present. Right now I am trying to figure out what I played on them so I can get better renditions online with other instruments.
Just a general question folks.
Very best.

Well I realized this was going to be hard but I stick there and make my ground.
My Dad was the very best musician there ever was and he's still kickin. Played anything and everything from Piano to drums and played them well I might say.
Me? Just an ordinary guy who decided that the drums (Cheap way out) was the way for me but then I also realized they have tunes too. I play guitar, keyboards (Badly) but get where I am going. I've managed bands, but then I suspect most drummers do since they need a place to play.
I once talked to Scorpions Guitarist who was a tutor to me many years ago. He said, "Oh no, another Genesis band?"
It's ok to copy and say yeah I can do that too, but really, is there anyone out there with enough imagination? There are not many around who can play like them or Gabriel for that matter.
Thoughts.......................

Yes, Genesis, King Crimson, Jethro Tull....these were idols of my youth as well. Then progressive rock got a bad name. Kids in garage bands couldn't keep up with these masters, and disco and punk rock took over. Anyway, if you like classical music check out my version of a Bach piece at the myspace site listed in my signature.

Great timing dude!
I may post my symphony which was spent in a few nights with a real 2 real many years ago.
I feel that to get anywhere you MUST be open and tell, say what your about etc.
My stuff is basically key/time changes and lyric. Nothing hot since everything has been done before right.
Besides without lyric my songs will be lost but to a few.
Thanks Jimmy

Tull, Camel, Caravan, Nektar, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Floyd - yeah, I live for that music. Art rock rules me.

Thanks for the replies folks!
Trying to do just that. I have a very simple home studio here and things aren't going as well as planned.
Oh the music recording is going just fine and working out what I did many years ago but as regards the studio itself? NIGHTMARE!!
Be in touch soon.
Cheers and thanks again.

Yepper that's me. I just love music. That seems so cleche but it it is a genuine fact. I am a fan of Genesis and all things Phil and Peter. I like Pink Floyd. Yes, cooks with gas as does Johanne Sebastian Bach. Don't tell no body but I just receently converted to Prince fandom. Except I am not a fan. Fan is a silly word. Fans never rub elbows with the peple the are fans of. I feel that I am in a situation where I can rub elbows with these musicians as a musician. I jammed with a band tonight to Moondance, Locomotive Breath and Can't You See. I have played with Celtic groups. I had an audition a couple of months back to do a recording gig. The interviewer asked if there was any music that I wouldn't play and I could not think of anything.

Well , I am sure if the music pays homage to the KKK and encourages death to all Blacks, I wouldn't play that.

Great post Black and am totally with you on the last line too.
I realize that this sort of stuff requires greater band collaboration and perhaps that it why it is less likely to be popular in our ready made, good to go society.
Sadly to me these days music is becoming like a drive through as regards radio, more to the point it is what they want you to listen to in most cases isn't it?
Again another possible reason why it isn't that popular? Coming back from seeing Genesis in NYC last year a local station piped 1.5 hours of Genesis for everyone's trip home, now that was cool!
I still don't hear too much about them since though and the official site as good as it is has sunk like a submarine.
