LOL

I got my pic on the WVa Dems site - http://www.wvablue.com/frontPage.do?nextId=6

Almost a butt shot...sheesh... & they couldn't even print my last name on the thing! Scroll down about 3/4 of the page to where it says "9:53 AM" - that's evidently when I put up that banner for them.

Is it time for a relevant third political party? Democrats and republicans are worthless gristle. Give me something political that's got something really tastey to chew on. The "debate" tonight was the same worthless manure we"ve seen from these two do-nothing parties for the last umpteen years. Later...

I feel your pain Bob,
but I've come to the conclusion that the dominant two party system is just how it works .

I'm not proud to say (but not ashamed that I voted) for Ross Perot, Slick Willy(first term) And George W. I am not totally happy with the outcome of any of those choices, but sincerely believe in the process . Get out and vote, and hope for the best. (I think that JW123 shares my view on this point.)
Kudos to Philby for being active in the process.

later...

Is it time for a relevant third political party?

Absolutely, definitely, undoubtedly, emphatically YES.

I fully agree Bob, the current two parties that have been in control for the past 100 years have done nothing but create and bolster government by the rich and for the rich. I'd absolutely love to see a third party gain some ground. Until then we will still be dragged down by the same drivel, greed and incompetence we've seen the past 30 + years with Reagan, Clinton, the Bush boys and so forth. Yes, both current political parties have contributed to the mess we're in now, neither is completely to blame, and I don't support either one. Both are responsible for the current financial situation.

Think about it before you scream "My party didn't do that"...Both have been in control of the government more than once, prices have gone steadily up, wages have stayed steadily where they are as much as possible, and the national debt has grown steadily, while product quality has gone down and very recently the huge corporations have been sending jobs to other countries, increasing unemployment. Both current parties have contributed to all of this, not just one.

I usually stay out of politlcal debates, but this is a very good point made by Bob, the Democrats and Republicans are dragging this country down at a breakneck pace and somebody really really needs to get in there and clean out the greed and corruption that's been running our government for ages.

YES we need a viable third party. I was hoping the Greens would make it, if nothing else because they might just try and clean up the environment a little. I'm sure Nader would have at least tried to make a difference, as consumer advocate he made a career out of fighting FOR the people not for big money. He's the one who forced Ford to recall the Pinto when they knew it had already killed thousands of people. He did a lot more of the same nature, I wish he was running again, he'd get my vote again. I definitely don't want to vote for either of the buttheads we have to choose from right now...

But I have a solution...Yep, here's how it works...

Create an open season on politicians, say once every 2 years, 2 weeks per year, doe day on Thursday. Problem solved. How many politicians would screw this country if they knew they would be shot during the next open season? I wonder how long Hillary would last the first Thursday... :D

NOTE: This is just a hypothetical example, I do not condone the random, irresponsible use of firearms or deadly force.

Pete,
If you recall, we once had a sweet little fuel efficient little Chevy called a Corvair as a viable alternative to the prominent gas guzzlers of that era.

What happened to them?

Ask Ralph Nader. We needed to be protected from those dangerous things!
Hell, my big sister rolled a Corvair Spider, an is still alive and well!
Just what we need. More whiny arseholes in government to tell us how to live.
God bless FREEDOM of choice! (even though it seems a bit limited at times)

Now get ready to get on out to vote for whoever, if only to exercise the right, even if it's Snoopey!

Chuck Baldwin is running for President, nobody even knows he is there thanks to the commies of the airwaves.
Constatution Party. His bumper stickers read simply

Chuck Baldwin
President 2008
Close The Borders

I'd vote for him, but then obomanation to liberty might win, and I'd have to give up Nursing, and Music to go to civil war.
Europes elite rich bastards will never control my soul.
From their cold dead hands, or mine!

hey Howlin J Ralph Nader has dedicated his life to protecting the American People from being taken advantage of by Industry and corrupt politicians. I believe he deserve a lot of respect for that. the man lives in a 1 room apt. he never went for the money and never got corrupted by Washington. I'd sure as hell rather have Ralph Nader for president then the TV Evangalist/used car salesmen we've had for the last 25 years.
Jimmy Carter was the LAST GOOD MAN we had in office!

GO LIBERTARIAN/GREEN/INDEPENDANT
f**k the DEMS/REPUBS

Hey Heyden,
Your point is well taken, but why not Lee Iaccoca for president?
I bet he would get us back "heading down the highway".

just a thought.

P.S.
Jimmie is a great guy, but some might argue his being the last good president.

I personally think he is either a total idiot or perhaps has alzheimers.
No one would flush our country down the socalist toilet faster than good ol Jim.
Examine closely the historical facts of the hostage crisis he so aptly misshandled. All his deeds best I remember reeked of the same pandering and weakness.
Not tryin to start some Hayden. Just my op. Ya know you and I dont agree on much anyway. With the exception that myspace sucks. :D

lol true sans...
but I see him out building homes "with his own hands" and brokering peace worldwide. he also passed more bills helping the bottom end of the social ladder than "all prior presidents combined"
he took us out of a recession that Reagan both took credit for doing, and destroyed the work of. trickle down (the rich get richer and a few pennies trickle down to the rest)...everything Jimmy did was "long term" and it came to truition after he left office!
I thought it was completely unfair how he was set up by his staff to take the fall for the rescue effort and thought it was very ballsy of him to make the call to do it in the first place.
no matter what anyone thinks of him, he thinks of the POOR FIRST!
show me another politician that does.......................

besides Ralph Nader!!!

Definitely don't want to start a flame fest here, but do have a couple of points to consider.

A lot of people walked away from Pinto crashes too, not all of them exploded. Ditto for the Corvair, also a very unsafe vehicle, but many people were not killed in crashes. And I liked them way back when.

Nader did do a lot for you. He was consumer advocate for years and devoted his career to fighting the huge corporations that sold unsafe merchandise to Americans, placing dollars above our safety. Pinto and Corvair were just two of the recalls that saved a lot of lives. Ford and GM were selling truckloads of both and had no intentions of stopping, even though they both knew their cars were killing people due to unsafe features. There were lots more, and Nader made a lot of enemies in high places as a result. He still stood his ground, if it was unsafe, he would fight them no matter what. I wish I could remember more good examples, but nothing jumps out at me right now. Point is though, Nader did a lot for all of us. Many of us would not be here right now if he hadn't been willing to find and stop not only unsafe products but unfair marketing and such. Nader did a lot for all of us, even if it didn't directly affect any certain individual, and you might not even be aware of a number of product recalls that did or would have directly affected you.

This is why I don't like to get into political discussions...somebody always gets his feathers ruffled over what amounts to opinions.
