Grabbed a singer I've worked with and rehearsed this song once lol, probably shouldn't have done it, but it went pretty well, outside of a blender running and me not preparing for the "solo" to well. Enjoy, feel free to comment.

You guys sound good with just vocals g-tar and a blender, it sounds complete to me as it is, I like the singer's voice it reminds me of the Rascals lead singer, I bet if he sings Groovin he’ll sound just like the Rascals.

did the singer have to get home before curfew or something? I hope he puts more into it when he's whackin off or he'll be all night!

lol , yeah, he's a bit low-key on presence, he was really nervous for some reason, but we've used him in bars and he's done real well with energy. I think because it was unrehearsed he just wasn't comfortable, and it showed.

Considering that, the crowd applause we got at the end was the best I heard all night, and some really great musicians got up and played, just most of them played comatose lounge music.

People do like more upbeat type music, or powerful stuff. You sounded good! Good job! The place looks like it is fairly goodsized. Also helps to have stuff that they recognize. Santeria is a good song for that.

Sans - Sure it was fun, but I was nervous because we tossed it together the night before, not so well rehearsed... And at these open mic's, you are playing to mostly musicians who WILL notice every minor inconsistency and mistake you make. Tough crowd lol. I got a lot of kudos after the song, which was refreshing, gave a few other's their due respect as well, after all, it was all about networking.

open mic nights are fun I played an open mic night a month or so ago with out having rehersed at all (singing not that I really should) and then I got lucky and had one of my buddies appear behind the drum kit (when he's a guitarist) there were still people left inside when we pretty much ran off stage haha

Cool. A singer we just recently auditioned asked us to do this song. Neat to see someone else do it.

That's a great song to cover because it's very open to interpretation. You can really flex creative muscle with it, or like I did, just keep it short and sweet.
