Hey everyone...I'm brand new to Ohio and brand new to the Bandmix site. Lot's of talented folks on here! I'm hoping to meet some people from the area and do a little pickin' and grinnin'.....although I'm a much better grinner than picker lol.
I'm 28 years old and I am very passionate about old time music. My history is anchored in the appalachian area and it's sad to see the great history of this type of music fade away.
I got a new mic and an el cheapo digital recording program. I threw together a tune I wrote a few days ago so that I could have something on the website. Please keep in mind that I'm a horrible guitar player lol. Feedback is welcomed!
Anyways....hello to everyone! If anyone reads this from the central Ohio area don't hesitate to give me a shout!

Welcome man! BandMix is a great site, at least in my opinion. It has a fairly stable search engine, and the forum board absolutely rocks. It is a great learning atmosphere!
I have not had a chance to listen to your audio, but will later and comment on it. Good luck with the music venture!
Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.

Thanks for the post TJ, Sounds like yer onto something. I'm a rocker and had to go get me a beer to cry in, but enjoyed your post just the same.
Record you some Bass and percussion on that, maybe a female back up singer too
If you dont mind post onto the rollcall thread so I can keep tabs on your growing list of tunes.
And oh ya Welcome.

Hey,
You said, ". . . history is anchored in the appalachian area and it's sad to see the great history of this type of music fade away. "
Yeah, you don't hear much of it nowadays . . .
.
You posted a song. We have members who've been here for a while, who still have not posted anything.
.
I compliment you on posting a song as soon as you joined.
.
You sai it's a new song from an inexperienced guitarist, eh?
Well, it's a simple song - and there-in lies it's beauty. It does sound Appalachian. It sounds 'real.'
At this stage of the game, you might just want to check on your tempo.
. . . maybe practice with a metronome, or even a 'cheopo' keyboard with built in drums.
But - it's a good entry-level song in your chosen genre.
By the way - good vocals, and good harmonies . . .
Thanks for the Feedback!

Broken string Band,Glad you'r here at bandmix.I listened to you'r song! My imput for what it is worth. Keep the beginning guitar part for a measure or so ,and then kick her in the tale about twice the tempo.
That's just one man's opinion.Harmony's sound good too.

hola amigo...i live in west virgina so im well up to speed with the whole appalachian sound...which by the by was a product of the irish influence brought over along time ago...most of the appalachian sound has its roots in irish trad music..but when it got to the mountains it mixed with local music to form the building blocks of bluegrass and the likes.
keep on pickin and grinnin....and welcome to the mix.

Broken string band,
I like that name.
"Miner's Blood" is an excellent song ,espesally for being "off the cuff". Sounds like you have an "older soul" then one of 28 years.
Best of luck with your musician search. Wouldn't mind hearin' some more tunes, if you get the time.

Threw up a cover of Goodbye Booze for the fun of it.
I've found a couple people that dig the similar styles of music around here but nothing came about from it.
Going to be checking out the weekly/monthly bluegrass jams they have around here. I'm not out to find a touring band just resources for folks that like to jam....never know what that can turn into.
Really liking the bandmix site and all the folks on here are great. Hope everyone had a good Easter!
