Jesus Rock Star 7, a Christian Ministry/Band based out of Dallas, TX, is auditioning Lead Vocalists. The band is currently in pre-production for a future demo or CD that is being rehearsed and recorded in the home of Lead Guitarist Joe Dunegan in Allen, TX. Go to www.myspace.com/jesusrockstar7band to listen to "Resurrection", the more than likely title track to our future CD or demo. If you can sing with this kind of strong vocal ability and put your own style and flare to it, then we want you to schedule an audition with us ASAP.

This singer must meet the following criteria: solid Christian, age 35-50, preferably married with a family, Tenor range, live in the DFW area a must, able to rehearse once a week and eventually travel/gig on weekends only.

We are a ministry devoted to evangelizing the Gospel of Jesus. If this is your calling, contact me at jdd@kingdompc.com with pics and mp3.

Maybe you could just wait and ask Jesus himself, he would be a great frontman. I heard on the 700 Club this could be the year He returns.

If HE does, wonder if you will be going with HIM? Bible says there will be mockers and scoffers......so maybe you are just one of those that will fulfill that prophecy?

jimmy,

I hope that you were just kiddin' around. I would hate to think that you have something against someone who believes in the All Mighty and that he sent His Son to save a wretch like me.....or you! (John 3:16)

Grow a sense of humor. You can't picture Christ fronting a rock band? And that's what they said on the 700 Club, I couldn't make that up.

Christians is discrimination. What if a Hindu who was an incredible singer wanted the job? Or a Jew? Or an atheist? I believe that Jesus himself would not approve your discriminating against those that are capable of singing in your band. Later...

...also....Why the f**k does he hafta be married w/ children?? Christ wasn't! BTW I am a Christian and find your post to be quite hypocritical! Jesus allows all to enter his kingdom no matter what their race, creed, marital status or schedule is! Wouldn't being married w/ a family kind of stifle the traveling part of your post? After all, would you holier than thou's want to be responsible for causing consternation within a family unit??? :P

Good luck on your search. I too believe you may be putting a limit on the power of our awsome God. Perhaps your search could be the tool that brings one of the lost back to the Flock. I know that for myself
the Influence of the more stable members of our society with whom I had contact, were a Great influence on my life Just as my band mates are now.

JSR7,

I like the vocals on your song on your player.

A sidenote while I was playing Resurection in my office, the gal that works with me came in and said I havent heard that song in years. I said I dont think this song is old and she said she used to listen to it all the time. She couldnt remember the name on the song she was thinking about or the band but shes convinced she knows this song.

Good Luck with your project, I hope it goes well.

OK, Jimmy, so you were kidding around. Sorry for being so touchy.

Crip2nite, I would prefer the members of my band to atleast be married and it's a plus to have children...not because he won't get into heaven if he's not....but because me and my band mates hang out and they are all married, my bassist is a grandfather, my drummer has a grown daughter, I have a 5 and a 4 year old even though I'm 46. I like being around family and friends. I don't know any singles.

JW123, I can assure you that this song was not written by anyone else in the past; a guy named Tracy Forrester and me wrote this song last year in February. However, the lyrics were taken straight out of the bible..the New American Standard to be exact.

Sanshouheil, I actually thought about what you commented for the last year or so. Actually, my drummer is a very young Christian...almost a little one foot in, one foot out...if you know what I mean....one of my best friends, known him for 17 years, played in a band with him 15 years ago. However, after experiencing some things last year with some other individuals that I wanted to be in this project, including the singer on the recording before mentioned, I had a change of heart. One of my best friends in the world is in full time ministry in Israel. I talked with him about the situations I was facing and he gave me some great advice....."you don't want people in your band/ministry that you will have to drag around all the time. You want people that will pray and fast for the ministry without you having to ask!" That was the jist of it. I wanted my stepbrother in this band so bad, but he just wouldn't get on board with what I wanted to do. As far as the singer goes, I merely put those points out there to keep the flakes and nuts away.

Listen, if you are a singer who believes in Christ, wants to minister the Gospel to those who want it and need it, if you'r married or single, I don't care, mostly, If you can wail like there is not tomorrow and know it....not these poor people who audition on American Idol who think they are the world's next big thing and they can't carry a tune. I hope this clears things up. I'm really a cool dude that has been trying to put this thing together for over a year. I need a singer......Are you out there?

Sorry, gotta go, a singer just hit my myspace site. God is so good.

I still maintain that only "allowing" Christians in your band is discrimination pure and simple. There are people of different religious faiths other than Christians who I would be more than happy to "allow" in my band. There are people who are atheists or agnostics who I believe are very good people who I would "allow" in my band. What your ad should say is this: We are a Christian music band looking for an individual who has high moral standards who does not abuse alcohol or drugs and has a powerful voice. That's it. You would be amazed how many wonderful people there are in the world who are not Christian. Some of them may be highly qualified to sing in your band. Later...

You would be absolutly correct Fisherman, It is discrimination. And I wholeheartdly support his right to discriminate as well as your right not to.

Bob,

I dont guess I ever thought of bands as equal opportunity employers.

If someone wants to surround themselves with other Christians, why would they comprimise themselves.

I dont understand why you even bring this up. At least this group has a very clear idea of what they want and expect of its members. Music does generally discriminate. I cant imagine a gansta rapper and a redneck country musician getting together. Im sure in your career you have made choices on musical fronts based on what you want and expect, and maybe passed over some good musicians cause they didnt fit the cause.

RS7 as I said earlier Good Luck and stick to your guns.

Nelly (not gangsta but a rapper nonetheless) and Tim McGraw country Crooner recorded "over and over again". http://youtube.com/watch?v=temaoKXSVxw
I do however agree with you. I try to surround myself with Christians. On another twist I will only do A Capella when writing Christian music.

Paul,

Thanks for bringing the Nelly/McGraw song to my attention.

I dont know why I responded to this thread, it seems whenever Religion gets thrown in a thread here a lot of people get their pantys in a wad.

If I was forming a Christian group I would want a group of Christians to surround me, likewise if Im forming a classic rock bar band I would surround myself with like minded people, if I wanted to play polka music I would want to play with polka musicians. Maybe a jazz drummer, funk bassist, classical guitarist, heavy metal singer and a Christian atmospheric keyboard player would be a great musical combination, but if they didnt get along well they wouldnt get along. How many of us on here have settled into a musical situation and put in the work and effort to play together only to fall apart from moral issues. I have been in these situations, wouldnt it be better if someone said exactly what they were looking for upfront so everyone is on the same page.

I recently had some guys over to play some music. It actually sounded good but needed some definite work. So I suggested we all write down what we wanted and expected from the band. The other guys thought I was crazy. We all wrote down what we wanted, one wanted a cover band to make money, another wanted to play all his pet cover songs(songs noone in a club has heard of), another wanted to do originals. In the end we couldnt get on the same page, if I hadnt asked people to write it down at that point we may have goofed around for a month or so before all this came out. Is that discrimination? If it is then Im guilty.

I understand that Jesus went to the people and amongst the people, but didnt he surround himself with 12 guys who shared his point of view, well maybe 11. But Judas did serve his purpose. Likewise when I see a successful band of musicians, they all have to serve the same purpose or be on the same playing field to get anywhere. So if a Christian group threw in one bad egg wouldnt it spoil the rest of the group or taint their image if one member didnt stand up to the same standards as the rest of the group.

I think Ive said enough, so much that Im confusing myself!
