I've heard of Skunk Radio.
Like it or not, this is how you play that game. No one you've ever heard of happened by accident....except maybe Alice Cooper.
The majors will spend a million on stuff like this (on a grander scale) because they know that the average person has to hear a song about 17 times before they notice it.
