Hi guys,

I'd love to hear from anyone who's attempted to or successfully worked with other musicians or producers that they've reached out to online.

About me - I'm a guitarist/pianist who's got a few tracks that I'd like someone to contribute to, and I have a few questions:
  1. How do people usually go about collaborating with other musicians online?
  2. What's the biggest challenges or frustrations you have when you collaborating tracks?
  3. Are your experiences collaborating with musicians online positive or negative? Can you tell me a story about it?

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it!

I contacted a female lyricist, became friends.
I live in the USA, she lives in Australia.
Turns out she's an excellent singer.
I emailed her some tracks I recorded, she used them to record her vocals.
She emailed me 2 separate vocal tracks, and I mixed them.
The result was a great-sounding song, "Folks I Knew" (my music, my lyrics, her voice); we've both gotten many compliments for it.
.
(btw, the song is no longer posted here, not enough room, but it's on my Reverb nation site, if you want to hear it).
Bottom line; you can get some really good results, but you should probably get to know them pretty well, first.
