...Mike ... I know ...advertising on a musicians site for a musician is pretty out there. And on top of that asking them to be "serious" , well that is another stretch. I thought I would mention DEAD CAN DANCE (Lisa) in order to give them an "idea" of what I was looking for and filter out all those other serious female musicians out there who are into Hip Hop, Rap and tongue lashing ... you know those "other" classic forms of Art that fall under the heading of Music. I hope that I do not get anyone into "world music" that does not have a passport. I did exchange recently some emails with a female keyboardist but she had a job and an apartment ... I wish there were more homeless and jobless musicians here as I might stand a better chance ... perhaps if I just can hang on a bit longer their numbers might soon increase significantly. Now you have me doubting that possibly "Politically Awake" and "AntiNuke" may not go together.
Nevertheless I await breathlessly for the avalanche of responses which I "know" are coming. I thank you for your Post as it has caused me to re-examine the wisdom of actually looking on a music site for a musician. I purposefully did not mention anything Spiritual as I did not wish to "scare" off any good prospects. Of course I might consider an "alto" if I had too. I always try to be not only realistic but also a little "open minded" on such things.
Once again I thank you. I hope that your new stuff is doing well. Just being able to get something out there and available is , I believe< (seriously) a major acomplishment.

As I'm sure you know, very few musicians come to these forums, your best bet is to update your profile accordingly - and give LOTS of info on what you are looking for as well as your contact info because the searchers are unlikely to have a premium account.

...Mike ... I thank you for your good advice and Post. What you relate is quite logical, amking good sense and "the norm" as it were. I have never expected to find what I am looking for (bandwise) here. I use the Forum as a Forum... a PR Machine and reference. I have made a few friends however and that alone has made the effort more than worthwhile.
You are a good person as are many here. The banter is often inspirational as Scott has related. I have always found my musicians primarily by "doing my laundry" ... "hitch-hiking" ... "trying to chat up their girlfriends" ..."waiting at a hospital" ... in other words "In Life". They are all around just like the notes they create if one takes the time to really look.
The way I see it ... looking for a musician on BandMix would be like looking for a leader amidst politicians ... pretty much impossible. I am caught between the physical and the Spiritual worlds ... therefore I relate on a creative level only to others who find themselves in the same place.

Exactly, which is why I enjoy talking to most of the guys at the open mics I go to - they are, at least, trying to get out there and make music.
I have some fears that the duo I'm working in now may not work in the end because Art (other guy) told me he 'has no originals' - in exactly those words - and may choose at some point that he doesn't want to play mine (we've only done one of them together so far).

...Mike ... Thank you for your personal and forthright Post. Excellent. There are those who are out there and do struggle with the limitations of the physical yet keeping sight of and "in tune" with the Spiritual. Unknown for the most part they are to be admired and recognized as being True To Themselves. These have control of their own egos and understand that it is really insignificant compared to their real actions and beliefs.
Open mics are a "stew" of all sorts. Their existence is to be always encouraged I believe. In any "Art Form" those "Artists" who create are naturally "thrashing about" upon a higher level than those who do not. When "working" together with someone who is sharing the same "Spiritual Space" as yourself, then it becomes a priviledge to be able to play the other's originals or have them play yours ...the Creative Exchange. The Truth is inherent yet often hidden by the inflated egos of others less evolved.
You can not change their nature only "touch" them in some small way. Beyond that you become a prisoner of the material if you continue and travel away from your own creative purpose. This is not Evil ... it is only negative.
IT IS ALL ABOUT CREATING ... IS IT NOT?
