Mixing several different speakers in the same guitar cab

I've been toying with the idea of modifying a guitar cab I have and was wondering what the pros and cons are to having more than one type of speaker in the same cabinet. The goal is to get a sound with a solid low end but which doesn't sound muddy on the highs, and the idea is that by combining differntly voiced speakers, I might be able to get closer to that than a cabinet with four identical speakers. Has anyone done this and were you satisfied (or dis-satisfied) with the results?

As long as the ohm rating is the same, you should be good. Many people do this & I've read about some cab manufacturers as well. Putting different SIZED speakers in the same cab wired together may be a different story!

Consider your wiring, as well - not only do series/parallel affect the impedance (ohms) seen by the amp, but you don't want to overload any speakers (for example having 2 50 watt and 2 75 watt speakers in the same cabinet).
