Any advice from other young musicians in Baton Rouge?

You've gotten some good advice here. Put it to good use at least give it a try.
And let us know when you find your keyboard bro-mate!

The ideas you guys gave are not bad, but they still aren't giving me enough to work with. I need more specifics, ranging from members of bands in Baton Rouge that I can network with, music teachers, more music stores where I can post flyers, venues in Baton Rouge open during the afternoon (preferrably hosted during the weekend) that host an Open Mic where I can showcase some of my songs, AND spend some quality time mingling.

Finding these kinds of things through search engines is nice, but before trying any specific place, I would like to ask around to find out if the place attracts the type of musicians I'm trying to reach: i.e., guys in their mid to late 20s or early 30s who have a passion for a wide variety of pop and soft rock from the 80s to today, but who are essentially looking for a friend to hang out with and to learn some new skills with, and maybe expand his sound.

Another thing to factor in is that due to the fact that I'm legally blind, and therefore cannot drive, AND still rely on my parents to take me somewhere, I'm kind of limited in where I can go. If siad place is in an out of the way area, or if it's in an area or where traffic is bad, or takes place at a time when traffic is heavy, going to that place is out of the question.

Also how does this ad sound?

"My name is Clifford Blakemore The Third, and I’m 29 years old and love playing pop and soft rock covers on my keyboard. I am looking for a guy around my age who also plays keyboard, and loves playing a variety of pop and soft rock music. I’m looking someone who is a bit more advanced than me, and can show me how to do mixing and recording, and songwriting. Keep in mind that this is just for fun.
Some of my favorite artists include: Adam Lambert, Madonna, Richard Marx, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Nsync, 98 Degrees, David Archuleta, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, David Cook, Lifehouse, Plain White T’s, Dashboard Confessional, Owl City, Fleetwood Mac, Billy Joel, and Elton John to name a few.

[Contact info follows]"

The reason I ask is because I want to make sure there isn't anything in the request that is chasing people away, and make sure it's worded in a way to attract those guys looking for a friend rather than reaching highly experienced musicians who are a little too serious.

This request could go up on anywhere (church, bars, clubs, music stores, local college campuses, local newspaper, and any other methods/places where such a request would be appropriate).

Thanks.

Now, can someone help me with my first request, and give me a little more to work with? You know, discuss specific places in Baton Rouge (and how to use them effectively, and discuss your experiences at said place) where I can start my search fresh. I'm looking for a friend around my age who just happens to play pop and soft rock music for enjoyment, not your self-employed musicians.

If there isn't anybody like that here, I'm sorry to have bothered anybody.

I've recently put a request up at my local Guitar Center, but nobody has responded yet, and most often, when I do get a response, it's usually soemone who is a bit too serious, in other words, someone who has a job playing music.

I would like to learn how to more effectively reach the individuals who share my passion for good pop and soft rock, and who play for enjoyment, but who still think like professionals.
