I find myself almost liking this band.

They're shopping a bassist in NJ.

I liked the first tune on their webpage/site. ("What's it going to take")

"Johnny is "full of it" and Mike is the "badass".. lol

=

Is that like "The Fixx" and something mixed together in a "smelly potion"?

Maybe I'd just delusional. idk..who cares.. lol

They have an Irish folk/rock groove about them.
I like the vocalists tone a lot. Good sense of melody in the songs.
I like them.

Definitely too much FX on the lead vocal. Doesn't really sound like your 'cup of tea'. style-wise, though, Scott. Theyneed add a lead instrument, too, besides a bass - a multi-instrumentalist who can do guitar, mando, fiddle, etc.

I was just thinking I could play bass for these people with my eyes closed.
I just don't know if I could stay sane while doing it.

The guy with his acoustic guitar and pickup playing greasy flanger inspired stuff is like "10 too many hotdogs that fell on the ground"..

("Tastes like mustard and mud") lol

Maybe have a conversation with them and see if there is room for your musical ideas as well. Although they seem to have a somewhat defined sound already. You sing write play guitar bass... From what I've heard of your sounds... you are more art than the 3 minute pieces they do. Might become boring to only play bass and sing a few ooooohs and ahhhhhs.

When things become complex and involved, sometimes "oohs and ahhs" aren't bad.

I just would go in and play a most pedestrian bass.
Chances are I wouldn't bother trying to bring in any style or anything mine.
"too complicated for them"

Just plain old filler bass and let them do all the work.

Maybe I'd even get paid? lol

Sounds like you find the music tolerable... could be alright once you know the tunes... just show up and gig. Not too much of a time commitment then. And at least they're not playing C&W!

I heard that..

Yeah, I dig those situations where I can show up and do the deed and bail.

Learn the music? lol Surely you jest..
I didn't say i liked it..I just thought I could play it with little effort.
