Modify a golf club caddy to pull the upright bass around on.

My last one bid the dust, but the bottom had a large oval metal ring around the bottom that the peg could go through and the wood rested on foam. (The kind that goes around pipes went around that.) The back rested against more of that foam wrapped and zip-tied to the plastic back rest. Purchase longer straps from nearly anywhere to secure the bass to the cart in at least 2 places.
I am taking a break from modifying a new one (since I'm leaving for he summer anyways,) but this one is taking more effort. I plan to attach a (cut to fit) cutting board with space for the peg to go through to the bottom. Also, I took apart a knee brace for the metal and am going to resew them back on to act as a back rest that supports my bass better than the current plastic of the cart that it will be attached to.
It's nice to have this for easier on-foot transportation, and you don't need to set it down on the ground.

A tennis ball on the end of the peg (with some fabric inside to the peg doesn't go through the ball,) is a good way to keep the peg from sinking into the ground when jamming outdoors. It also stops the peg from scratching a dashboard if your bass is riding shotgun. (I can get the bass into some pretty small cars!)

If anyone else has any tips, thoughts, ideas, let's hear e'm!

You are quite the innovative lady amidst lady bassists :)

The cool thing is that All this can be done with other large instruments...except the piano... I wouldn't try it on a piano... 8)

I imagine a hard shell case for an upright bass would be pretty costly, but considering the price of one of those good basses ($5000 and up), I would think it would be worth it. Then mount some wheels on the thing, or use a standard 2-wheeler with some good ratchet straps.
