Any success stories from using this site?

Just curious but what has actually come out of using this forum as far as bands being created or musicians hooking up and getting together or some project finally being completed as the result of using this site?

Perhaps it's too new and not enough musicians know of it yet?

Curious to hear about something actually being accomplished.

I was pleasantly surprised by how many local musicians I've managed to hook up with - and I'm out in the sticks to a degree (20Mi from Atlanta)

I've found very helpful on several levels.

Good luck

If you doubt yourself, everyone else will too.

You know I haven't met any musicians off of the bandmix forum
though I have had some good exchanges with several on the
forum on music and political threads. I go to the bandmix home page,
and you can look city by city in your state at the other local musiciansin your area. Last week we had a piano playing woman come out to
jam/play with us who I had contacted off her Bandmix page,
she had her email write on the page. We rocked a little to hard for her, but she was talented, said she was Dottie West's niece. Bandmix is just
another tool to use to try to find a group of people to make music with.

Ive have a bass player coming to a rehearsal thursday . but not much real sucsess , the site aint all that new either. I've been a member since 2006 & mostly get guys answering that I already know . ( I'm in a remote area 1/2 way between chicago & peoria Il ) But I still think theres a lot of benifit to belonging.

We built our band here.
Our primary contact for our largest gigs found us here.
I have friends all over the US from here.
I have gotten more links, information about music in general, equipment, and damn honest critique here.
I have sent out CD's to many of my friends all over the US from ...
You guessed it here.

Success isn't about where you are, it's about what you do with it.

From my perspective this IS the music web site for musicians.
Period ... end of story.

Sans your right ! I have had great success in music for many years and intend to continue. I have enjoyed this site , but I'm really just learning about the whole internet thing . I can't say that I've really needed it much up till recently. However as everyone including club submissions moves in this direction its becoming clear its a must for the future! I have yet to get anything on my space , I don't have a facebook account, the only website I have is about 3 years out of date. LOL ! I guess my only excuse is theres not enough hours in a day. I'm learning though & this is where I started so its been great in that regard. I've been content with playing a couple time a month for the last several years , but now that my son is grown & soon will be out of college I'm getting the itch back . So this old dog is trying to learn new tricks . I didnt mean to sound negative about this site,so I though I'd clarify a little, I agree its all about the effort . (that said I have managed to play 32 gigs so far this year ) I've also Improved my bandmix page so If your so inclined check out the song postings & let me know what you think. Like you said its what you make it !

Blues my man ... I could learn a sh*t load from a guy like you.
Love your playing and your musical taste as well.
Yeah I play simple rock n roll and I like to play it loud.
Truth be know when we wank in practice it always has some blues flavor.
I love the note articulation and the licks in the blues.
Perhaps one day I'll have enough experience to branch out a little more myself.

Play on my man ... play on.

That would be cool.

I'm not going to be get out anytime soon though.

Got two jobs + the Band / mission.
Wife has her full time Nursing position and her new business.

This week ( Tuesday ) we are looking at purchasing one of the smaller buildings here that is on Main Street.
Right smack in the middle of the revitalization project the city is working on.

Downtown Kilgore is slowly coming to life again after being stymied by the old money fuddy duddies for over thirty years.

Music, movies under the stars, restaurants, some even serving alcohol.
Now that may not sound all that to big city boys, but in a small East Texas community that has been under control of a bunch of old fashioned Baptist forever ... it's GRAND.

Jeanette and I want more than anything to get out of nursing so hat we can be our own bosses and conduct our lives and business in an honest and God fearing fashion.

We will likely be really busy for years .

Any of you whom are prone to say a prayer now and again.
Keep my family in mind.
