Hi,
I'm Michael, a founding member of Voltera from Melbourne, Australia.
Voltera are embarking an a world tour in July 2011 beginning in the USA.
Unfortunately our current drummer and bassist cannot attend so we are looking for new members to tour with.
You need to be professional, experienced, over 21, able to take time out of whatever you are doing for up to 3 months at a time, have own equipment and be easy going.
It would be advantageous to understand Voltera's philosophy and purpose. If you are in it for the money or fame, look elsewhere.
In return you get to work with a hard working, determined and fair pair of people [myself, Michael and Jess, vocalist]. We are passionate and compassionate, where a great experience is the least we want to take away from this tour.
Don't haste, time is a wasting.....

Voltera have maintained a strong live presence with prolific touring over the east coast of Australia.
In the past, Voltera has ventured to the USA to play the West Coast leg of the 2006 Vans Warped Tour, sharing the stage with bands like AFI, Joan Jett and Paramore.
In addition, Voltera have been the support for international acts such as KMFDM, Genitorturers and Covenant, as well as headlining many of their own successful shows all over Australia.
Voltera have two tracks featured on popular console games,
"It beats for you" on Tony Hawk's Proving Ground, and
"Do What Your Daddy Say" on Tony Hawk's Project 8.

"If you are in it for the money or fame, look elsewhere."
I'd be happy to do it, if the money's good enough to justify my dedication. Fame won't feed me & mine, but if "understanding Voltera's philosophy and purpose" means accepting less than adequate pay for my services, I'd have to pass. A world tour is not something I'd do lightly, with an unknown entity.
Your music has energy. I find it appealing. As a bass player, I could do you justice. Your sales pitch for the job is a little scary, though.
not into it for the money??

I would have to agree with you my friend. I'm tired of hearing the term,, "i'm not into it for the money".. that's like gamblers in vegas losing 20 grand and saying" oh well..at least i had fun" LOL.. While playing music is a TOTAL BLAST !! i wouldn't feel comfortable doing a world tour, with questionable money, i'm not in the band i'm hired to PLAY FOR YOU, that means a salary, and yes , i have to eat also.

I'm sure the homeless don't panhandle for money either. Give me a break!
How is it that you're without a drummer and a bassist, right before a tour? What went wrong here?
Hope you guys can pull it together, man. All the best!

I'm proud to say I'm in it for the money!

Played for peanuts for tooo damn long.... finally in a project that helps pay the bills and supplements my income as I'm still, after almost 2 years, on a 20% salary cut at my day job!
The added bonus is I actually love making money doing something I'm really enjoying! Anyone who says that they're not in it for the money is because they really aren't in a position to make money doing it! It's bands that play out for nothing that are really hurting it for all the other hard working musicians!

If moneys your goal, you should be about the money, and only the money. When I was last into music seriously (25 years ago). It wasn't about the money, it was about drinking, drugs, and wild women. That's why I got out of the music, and concentrated on only making money, and I made money. Two years ago I sold my business and retired to only playing music, and I haven't made any money. To say that someone can't play out cause they don't need the money......well. I don't need the money, but I devoted 15 years of my life to get the money, now I've got it and I'm going to spend it and play music, but on my terms.

I hear what you're saying Lynard, but don't you have to have a substantial amount of money to play 3 months out at a time? If a tour can't pay for itself, then you're gonna be tapping your bank account.
A response.

No where did i say "Our philosophy and purpose" meant less than adequate money. Depending on each persons purpose for being in a band, being a musician or being an artist will dictate their desired outcome.
Sure, we want to survive and feed ourselves, but sometimes you have to rough it. If you haven't read our philosophy, it may not be for you.
That's cool.
Airweavers:
Sure, our calendar doesn't have any dates for later this year. This is because we are negotiating atm.
randmanw03:
We all have different motivations for being in bands, i don't know of any respectable acts that have ever said they are in it for the money, money comes when you are happy doing what you do if you do it well enough, hopefully.
Also, we all have different standards of living to maintain, some people more influenced by social anxiety.
I respect your situation, sure you're not in the band so why dedicate?
Why dedicate?
The right person has that option.
Kruliosis:
We have an exceptional drummer and bassist, both of whom cannot come due to other commitments I wont discuss here.
Sure we could bring members from here, but logistically, from the USA was a bit simpler.
Cheers man.
Crip2nite:
Sorry man, I don't agree.
I'm glad you're getting paid for what you like doing. But if you didn't get paid for it, would that make it less likeable?
You sound jaded man.
We all remember jamming to our favorite bands in our bedrooms, blocking out the outside world. Now you're a victim of capitalism, playing for that world. You're basically saying if it is free it has no value.
Maybe others are doing it better than you for less?
We don't see eye to eye.
Lynard Dylan:
Respect man!
You're honest and instead of expecting the world to adapt to you, you adapted to it!
Thanks for you're comments guys, I appreciate them all.
The tour isn't for no money, ALL money earned for performances would be split evenly. Sometimes you may have to do it rough, that's "rock and roll".
For me personally, if i were a resident of the USA, I'd jump at an opportunity like this. I wouldn't seem to much of a commitment or outlay, but maybe I'm biased. No, actually I would do it if I thought there was potential.
All the best,
Michael.

LOL
My definition of touring IS called "roughing it." Bad food. Rough accommodations. Lotsa time spent traveling (more than playing, even). Often having to fight for pay, or going somewhere only to find tha place doesn't fit your style or it's closed or has changed mgmt & has a "new entertainment policy." It just ain't for everybody. I'd love to do it.

Voltera, you guys have a good sound going on, and it has room to evolve.
And now you've met just about all the A-holes here who are the self-appointed experts of the music industry.
Put me on your contact list and let me know if yall ever get out to North Carolina.

Oooh, really dig the tunes, you now have a new fan!

i haven't heard anything this original come through this forum in a while. Love the way you alternate the vocals. I didn't expect things to change up like they did on the first track, everything just goes up from there.
Where can I buy this at?

Thanks Kruliosis!
Really appreciate the feedback.
You can get the tunes from either iTunes or from our store
http://www.voltera.net/store.
What is "dirt devil", never heard that one?
Hey Scratchy,
We plan to come by if we find a drummer and bassist that can commit.
Surprised so many talented yet non commited musicans in forums everywhere in the States. It's probably is a bad sample of some good forums but we are having very little luck with commitment.
We'll keep in touch man!
The krux of the current situation is,
WE ARE STILL LOOKING
If you know of anyone that may be interested, please send them my way.
Thanks.

HA HA! If Paul McCartney offered me a gig around the world and asked me to do it for free... well Hell yeah I'd jump on that one...
Somehow, I get the feeling he won't be calling me ... LOL! In the meantime, make no mistake... My time and talent is worthy enough for payment. And lIke I tell me mates, Do it for all the Art you want...long as you get to see the art hanging in the bank as well...
