Listened to the first few tunes on your profile. Your music is always interesting to me. Only critique, get the vocals more up front in the mix (little louder). You're a fine lyricist, we need to hear your vocals better. Otherwise great job...

I've held off on my critique until I had time to do you justice, Chris.

"Attack Of The Funk Butts" - um...okay...I'm not a big fan of midi, but I think I can see where you're going with this. It's okay, but it doesn't really go anywhere...

"Everyone I've Known" - I've forgotten how much I like your vocal approach. It's almost eerie, yet so honest. Good tune, man. The lil keyboard flourish at 1:50 is a lil odd. I'd like to produce this one, though.

"Center Of The Universe" - I don't like the vocal effects at all. It's distracting & I miss the lyric. I like the guitar work on this, Chris. You surprized me there! I like the way this ends, too.

"Jacki's Awakening" - Damn! This is a very dark intro from you! This is pretty cool, Chris. I'm liking the way it's building, but I'd use this as some sort of transition piece, I think...but I dunno what from your repertoire I'd transition to! It's a cool intro, though...I like the Floydish feel at 5:00, & the transition into the xylophone is really good, too, but then it goes back to the midi stuff, & you start to lose me there. Interesting DM rhythms, too. At 7:10 or so it becomes almost Vangelis-ish, man! Very Euro-feel at this point, but from around 1980 or so. It's very nice, man, & very long.

"The Loser Of Carrington County" - This hits me like a novelty tune, what with the chord progression & the bouncy feel. Way long, though, imho.

"Wheelin' & Dealin'" - I'd like to work with you on your vocals for songs like this. These are coming along nicely, Chris.

"Sentient Paradox" - I love this one. It's so spooky, yet it still has that friendly little bounce in it.

I'm glad to see you're still workin' on your songs, Chris. I see a lot of improvement, too. Well done.

When I refer to a sound being "too midi for my taste," I'm talking about the sound when midi first came into being - those cheesy Casiotone keyboard computerized sounds. If you used a better sample for those spots, I guess I should have said, it would be more pleasing to my ear. Yeah, I know it's all midi & programmed.

I'm laughing at the buried vocals you spoke of. You need to celebrate that honestly pure voice instead of burying it in weirdness, but there are some things you can do to improve it on your own, too.

Unfortunately, I don't have your number anymore, cuz I lost that phone in the drink on a canoe trip...

I do still have your email addy, though, cuz I was smart enough to leave my 'puter at home when I go fishing!

My bass is always at your disposal, man. My drummer's buggin' me to go work on some acoustic stuff in the studio, too. I was gonna do some of that, today, but life got in the way. I didn't get to go fishin', either!
