I just love the original songs that Kyle Wood (x-Crucial Smith) is both writing and re-arranging for his 2010 solo album featuring the mandolin as a full-fledged lead rock instrument! Fans of John Paul Jones and Led Zep take extra special note.

Kyle's indie sound, creative songwriting, precise playing, and that high, powerful and emotive voice are sure to appeal to fans of many genres. I highly recommend Kyle Wood's new sound/music to folks who like indie, alternative, classic rock, newgrass/progressive bluegrass, alt country, and/or progressive rock.

"Flying High Again" (Ozzy) reminds me of the Hayseed Dixie stuff, which is raock classics (in this case AC/DC) played bluegreass style. It's quite good for what it is, but I wouldn't call it r & r.

I saw a really great jam band at one of those hippie festivals a few years ago that used a 5-string electric mandolin player, & he was pretty damned good, too. Wish I could remember thier name...but it was a hippie thing, ya know...too much booze & such...

I agree - what is on Kyle's myspace page right now, e.g. "Flying High Again" is NOT rock and roll. What he is working on in the studio right now, however, most definitely IS. Kyle even will have Jeff Labar of Cinderella fame (Platinum-selling metal and now back on the road in 2010) guesting and shredding on one of his new songs.

NO. I intend to rectomize that whenever the snow quits out here, cuz I keep losing my sat hookup, since my dish is on the roof out of reach.

I use satellite internet, too, out here in rural southeastern VA. I have had ongoing trouble with my sat service for a while now and I just needed to replace my defective modem. Unfortunately, due to the anti-consumer policies of the telecom companies, there is no cable internet offered to us out here so we are stuck with either expensive, quasi hi-speed satellite or dial-up for the foreseeable future.

My suggestion is to get on Facebook as it is much more interactive than myspace. The only + for myspace that I can see is that you can upload and share your music directly. Facebook makes this a much more convoluted process.

I unnerstand completely. Out here in my sticky spooky spooky woodses, I cannot get cable nor DSL nor FIOS, either, though the rat badtids keep sending me greta deals for them all in my snail mail. They used to actually call me on my land line promising that stuff, ubtil I shut it down. At least I can get cel coverage out here, so I don't need the land line anymore.
