Hey guys, just put up a new song and would like your input on it. The name of the song is, 'Dreamin' of the Light. Hope you enjoy it.
Thanks for the listen,
Bobby

Takes too long to get to the vocals, imo. Don't like the dm.
Nice Lennonish humanist message in a country format, which seems kinda strange, frankly.
Overall, not a bad tune. Needs some fine tuning, though.

Thanks for the input Phil. can't stand the DM either but can't find a drummer to work with. I suppose down the road I will. And yes, it is quite different from what I usually write. Must have been the NyQuil and Vodka....Thanks for the listen....

I like it Bobby. Good job man. If the chorus had been a little more KISS and a little less Margaritaville, She would kick some major bootay.

Thanks Sans. Thanks for the listen. It means a lot to me to have you talented musicians be so helpful and sometimes brutally honest, lol..... I hope the younger folk that are joining the BM clan appreciate it also.

You're a talented fellow...But...And don't take this the wrong way...Your music sounds like your age. It sounds like generic 70's/80's southern rock. You'd fit right in at an old bar

Hey Ryan, thanks for the listen and no offense taken. Yes I am a bit older than most of you. I listened to your music and don't know what to say. Not to sound nasty, but do you get alot of gigs doing that style of music? You have to remember that I reside in southern Fla...the gold coast as they say. I haven't seen any yet lol.... Anyway thanks for the input and good luck with all your endeavours....

Somehow this song doesn't work for me. Your best bet is still traditional country sound...

Hey, Bobby.
(off microphone, "You oughta delete all that blank space from your signature line, man.")
I just listened. I like the progression.
I think the vocals come in at just the right time; the opening has a nice progression that sets up the song.
Not every song demands instant gratification; stick to your guns.
.
It's a pretty good song, and yep - Ryan is right, it does sound like an old song; I'd probably place it a little earlier . . .
But, that's ok: it's done pretty well.
Your audience just won't be folks under 25 who prefer hard rock, heavy metal, punk, and similar genres.
And - I'm sure that suits you fine.
Which is as it should be: write for yourself.
And you can share it . . . leave a legacy.
Keep writing good stuff, and there'll be a market for it.

I agree with RhythmMan - I think the vocals come in just right; I like it when a song has room to breath.
I can totally hear Tom Petty singing this song. He has the kind of laid-back attitude and vocal style that makes this sort of music work. He can pause between verse lyrics, like you've got written, and it works for him.
I like the use of the distortion guitar to augment the piece and fill it up a bit. Fills out the sound.
The only thing that doesn't work for me is your singing (sorry, your voice just doesn't do it for me) and some of the lyrics. The way the lyrics are written, it sounds almost too much like a Sunday morning worship piece, know what I'm saying?

Sounds pretty good to me Bobby, I like the second chord of the progression when the distortion kicks in, I dont know why but it just sounds good to me.
Just keep plugging away doing whatever makes you happy playing, thats what this is all about having fun, Right?

You do have a very good sound Bobby. Can I ask how you produce your material please?

Thanks for the listen and time guys. Lot of interesting things said that I will take to heart. Chippy, I'm using a Boss BR-900 Digital recorder for pretty much everthing. There a nice machine. Easy to use once you've messed around with it a little. I do have to admit the song was a bit out of my element from Country. Must have been something in me from my old hippy days of listening to Vanilla Fudge, the Yardbirds, Cream etc. I enjoyed doing the song cause it brought back some old memories. Anyway guys, thanks for all your help and insights. One other thing, thanks J.B. for reminding me that it's all in FUN.......

Dang I knew you would say that.
You see I'm trying to record digitally, I've a long way to go on this but I'm constantly impressed by REAL sound. Yardbirds were so good weren't they.
Thanks for the info and the very best of luck Bobby.

I know what your sayin Chip. I enjoy live sound also, but today, With the pay scale for studio time, on any one of the songs I've written I wouldn't be able to afford it. I'm just a working stiff like everyone else. Actually, you can get any sound you want. I think its pretty cool that anyone who wants to put their material on CD can actually afford to do it. And have the sound come out half way decent. Better than those old tape days. I might say, it's a heck of a lot easier to edit material.
Keep workin on it Chip. Use the easiest way to get your music heard....
Good luck also..
Bobby
And yes, the Yardbirds were way ahead of their time....
JW, you are more than right.....having fun is the name of the game.
