ok i dont know if this has been done before but what if i recorded a guitar line, then, forwarded the file to someone else to add bass for example then that person sent it to someone else for another instrument and so on and so forth. i think regardless of individual style of play this could make for something really cool or at least interesting. any takers?

we've done it, or at least tried before. I think one of the biggest issues was the lack of consistency of recording mediums, for instance I use an 8-track digital recorder, and can usb from my PC, so you give me a stereo track, I will put it on the 8 track in pure stereo, record another stereo track and then re-mix and send it along, whereas others who use garage band, pro-tools, etc.. some use extraction files, others actually separate synched but separated tracks for each instrument..
I'd be happy to add guitar or bass lines to something original though, if my method can work for the next person...

ahh i c, thats not something i thought of but can see it being a problem. i use a program called audacity to record with but my dad has an 8 track he uses in his studio. if i was to record a guitar track using his 8 track and get it to u would u be interested in trying this out...lol again.

I'd think you need a click or drum track first? I'd be up for trying something, but I wouldn't get to it until maybe later in the week, or on the weekend. I'm at work right now, and tend to lead a busy music life outside of work, got band practice tonight, for instance.

haha speaking of hand injuries. im left handed so my fretting hand is obviously my right hand. well about 2 maybe 3 yrs ago my then girlfriend was talking trash as her team proceeded to beat my team in football, well being drunk and extremely distraught i hauled off a mean right hook into the wall not knowing a stud was perfectly placed behind the drywall to absorb my blow. i subsequently snapped my pinky knuckle off...off lol. so my pinky knuckle is now actually about a centimeter shorter on my right hand now. anyway, i was in a cast for 3 months but was going to be damned if i couldnt play so i took a knife and proceeded to cut a chunk out of the palm of the cast so i could still wrap my hands around the neck. lol luckily it worked out for me and i was still able to play. haha i actually think i may have increased the number of frets i can spread my hand with the lack of knuckle.

I would love to do that, but I don't have recording software at home. I may be able to trade some studio time where I work sessions though. Email me at
pocketgroovesgso@gmail.com. If you want to listen to some of my work, check out my profile, or go to my website:

hah, go read my post in General chat about my hand.. I'm gifted!
Seriously, I'm about 75% healed (still some mild soreness from the surgical incision), yet I'm playing at a level of about 130% compared to pre-surgery. I'm soloing at blazing speeds I've never even achieved before, and effortlessly at that.. I'm ableto play DAG and CGF combos that we're numb-inducing pain-fest combos before (the repetitive nature caused major stiffness, fatigue and numbness almost instantly), I'm effortlessly playing them at that...
Bar chords are the biggest weakness right now, the pressure on my palm / incision can be a little painful, actually soreness is the best description, but the reason for all of this is a muscle (abnormality) pre-disposition that I explained..
I'm doing great though! Don't worry!
