I dunno I've checked out a lot of vids and pictures here. Does your image bother you? All I see is leather, white shirts and Denim frankly so what makes you think that your band has it all?

I've done just about everything but not everything.

Women have more of a clue about this but from what I've seen to date it all looks the same.

If you are inquiring of a purposefull image exists or not, I would have to say no in our case.
We're just normal guys rockin cause we love it. Yes I ususlly wear my tiger shirt, my wife gave it to me, I like it a lot and get lots of complements. Even had a lady try to buy it right off my back for her husband.
It's black so's my ice burst LP stands out for photos, and it does a great job of covering up my Ivory stocked S&W.

Chippy, I think I know exactly what you are saying. There is that need to dress comfortably in a performance so jeans and comfort clothing is understandable. But I'd like for my clothes to look like what I do. I don't want to look like the people who have come out to see me. I like a stand-out performance attire if I am doing my own concert. A good example to me would be Earth Wind and Fire or Robert Palmer. I saw recital where the performer was wearing red as opposed to the musician's black. That really stuck out to me as her individuality and it really set her apart.

Mary I know what you're saying about looking different than the audience. I have ambivalent feelings about getting "dressed up." I'm a blue collar guy all the way. I usually just wear a fishing shirt, a baseball cap, sunglasses. We don't have a light show. I don't want to "stand out." If we have a wedding gig of course I'll dress up a little more. The vast majority of places we play cater to blue collar people, bikers, etc. I'm really just one of them. I'm no different. I just happen to play bass and sing and get lucky and perform for people once in a while. I'm a wood scrubber by day, fisherman by weekend, and part-time bluesman. No real reason for me to get all dressed up...

Ok if we couldn't hear your fine music folks what separates you from the next crowd as regards style and image?

With my new band "Mugsy", we have to rely strictly on performance and perfection! I can't believe I'm actually playing with these guys because when I was younger, I used to go and watch their shows and they were rockin'! They are incredible musicians and their playing is just awesome! We are gonna turn quite a few heads when we finally come out this winter...but....

... our image is gonna need a lot of work! We all used to have hair down to our asses, wear leather and crazy outfits, look like chicks and definitely had one hellava following of the female persuasion in each of our bands waaay back when! We actually kick ass even more now, believe it or not but it's gonna take a freakin' miracle to somehow look the part... buncha old freakin' geezers here playing Disturbed, Godsmack, etc..

You have a point there Crip though its not impossible. I'd get the women involved frankly, (Other halves). Sounds kinda stupid but if you are trying to reach a broad age range you might have to think a bit young as regards dressing styles. but not stupid young.

Maybe I don't care enough about style and image. The only thing I care about is what does the music sound like? I also care that we DON'T play anything exactly like the original and we DO put our own spin on every song. When there is a new "hot" artist introduced to me I close my eyes and really listen to what they sound like unemcumbered by the visual. If it sounds redeeming then I judge it's "hot." If there's nothing there musically then their "image and style" are meaningless to me.

You do have an image Paul. I would recognize your sig anywhere.
And that is good marketing. I think a little simpler to do for a one man show. (notice please I did not say easier, so apply the propper meaning of simple)

Of all the rockin bands I used to travel around to see the majority looked like rockin geezers to me in my youth, so Crip I think all you have to do is BE that image, age irrelivent.

With NKF I suppose we each have own own image in our individual choice in casual wear (or Scrubs)

On another note: I would eventually like to employ some lights and effects, you know sometimes a good precentage of our audience are pre teen.

Neander, this IS your image. You stand out even amongst a field of farmers You can't make any changes or no one would recognize you.
