I found a bass player within a few days. I'm still looking for a drummer, however. All my rocker friends agree that they are indeed a rare breed here in Lawrence, KS

It hasn't helped me very much yet. If people don't list their contact info on their profiles, there is no way I can contact them because I don't have a premier account.

Bandmix hasn't helped me one bit. Then very few local people i have met all have whiny non-practical non-mucsical reasons for not wanting to get in a tour band.

To make it worse, i have been discouraged from coming here and frequently posting because every forum conversation i try to get into, no-one talks to me.

I'd have figured at least someone would've said "Hi welcome to bandmix!"

but it's nothing but silence.

Don't know what it takes to be part of the club but to be honest if it's that big a secret i don't think i want to be part of it.

The UNFRIENDLIEST social network i have ever posted in, even though to read the forums it looks friendly.

I paid for a month, but won't ever again.

thanks for the welcomes, sanshouhiel, philbymon.

Yeah, i posted 3 or 4 times but it has been months ago. No big deal, maybe they were old threads.

I've seen lotsa posts by both of you, for what its worth.

OK I have a question so that maybe i too might say that bandmix has helped me! Everyband i have been in before, we either had a sound man or someone else in the band owned the gear and did it. In my latest band, however, it has so far fallen to me to buy and run the P.A. gear. Currently i am looking for an equalizer to improve the P.A. I have a feedback destroyer already. I'm pretty much a noob with P.A.s and don't know that much.

So the question is: what does 1/3 octave, say vs 2/3 octave mean concerning equalizers?

Thx.

And of course i am in the market if someone has a good eq cheap, could do a paypal deal if you wanna ship it!

We have much better technical minds than mine on board to really give you an in depth answer.

First a bit of forum advice ... unsolicited as it is.

Take this question as an example.

If you would go to the "Technical" forum heading and post this as an independent question you will more likely get multiple and concise answers as well as links to more information.

You only need post a subject once. Attempt to post under as specific a heading as possible. Avoid "hiding" questions or request for critique in other / previous postings.

On the EQ the more sliders you have give you control of more specific ranges of sound.
For a novice like myself more than 7 bands is really not necessary.
If you look at the preset EQs for a recording program like Audacity
( a free download ) it will give you some idea of how adjusting the various high, mid, and low bands will affect overall sound.

As Sans said - you should start a thread in the Tech section to get better answers. It would help if you could list what PA gear you already have as well.

By the way, which Artcore do you have?

Because this thread is still alive...I'll once again say that it hasn't helped ONE IOTA! It's a joke really. Unless there's other people that use this site within your area, then you're screwed. Plain and simple and no one can argue that point. For me...it's just become a temporary distraction to post something every now and then...

Metal D

Are you using the search function ??

It's possible, but hard for me to fathom that I could build a band in the middle of BFE and you cant contact anyone.
Especially a Christian Rock Band in an area of Texas where every store you walk into is playing lame "country pop" .

Yeah I tried that Sans. There's pretty much no one in my area that uses this that's also into metal. It's all country, blues, rap, or 70's/80's cover bands around here. At least I met you guys here so that alone makes it worth the time to post every now and then and see that you're all doing good.

On another note...I've had several offers from Myspace bands to move to their area and be their lead player, but with a new house and a family...that's a little hard to do. If I were still in my 20's without the house and a kid, then it would be more feasible. Those bands also make their living off their music...bummer again... :(
