Well this has become an insane discussion. Going from lack of information, to grammatical problems, to attitudes, and to copyrights. Wow.

All I have to say is the following: Just post one or two songs, or even one of you singing someone elses song. This way we know what your voice sounds like, there are tons of vocal ranges out there. For instance, if I was interested in playing as a guitarist for you, I would want to know the kind of power in your voice I am dealing with. Do you have a voice that is powerful and operatic like Tarja Turunen (ex-lead of Nightwish); or a softer and more mellow voice like Amy Lee (Evanescence); or a more talkish but hard sound like the lead of OTEP; or, finally, if you have a voice that is strong, delicate, and amazing like Cristina Scabbia.

So understand it is important for guitarists, bass players, drummers, and all types of musicians to know these things. Good luck in your ventures.

I am not trying to beat this young lady up. I am trying to educate her.

First off you if can't take criticism, and harsh critics you are in the wrong business.

If she wants to find a great musician, she better give him something to go on and reason for him to want to play for her.

Talking like a pro with nothing to back it up and not even know what your talking about, and using poor grammar is not the way to do it.

Well made point. It is never smart to act too arrogant. It is those egocentricities that will get you in trouble in this world. I am not big on poor grammar either, but some people do not care enough to use good grammar, thus I do not try to correct it.

I will definitely concur with what you said about taking criticism, you must learn to take it if you want to progress. Well anyhow, peace out.

I was simply engaging in a little morning reading, when I happened by this wondrous wee topic. All I've got to say is, "THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING"

You know, when I think about it now... I always thought it would rock to have a female as the lead singer of the band -- I listen to many bands who have female leads. But the lead has to have a strong voice for me to want to play for her.

Let us just say I am a picky crappy new guitarist, lol. But once more, I must press the point that audio samples are needed. Especially "A cappella," because if a female lead can handle vocals without music accompanying her, then she can sing.

I don't think Wegman was trying to beat up on her at all. She suffers from "Star Syndrome" and needs to have some reality drilled into her in order for her to grow and get serious.

I first had my ass handed to me in a battle of the bands when I was 18. I strutted out on stage thinking I was All That, only to get a real beating in the music arena from the other bands. It was good for me. Taught me to keep my ego in check, my nose to the grindstone, and words true.

The ego still jumps out of the stall now and again, but he's on a short leash, at least.

That's why I resisted the urge to come down too hard on Rawks Cherry because I have seen her in countless iterations, in other young women aspiring to be the Next Big Thing, in years past. I know the archetype well. And the fact is, their dreams only come true .00001 percent of the time, which makes her odds REALLY formidable. I am going to be optimistic and say, with a little age and experience, she will get the message and pull her ego back into check - and get busy doing her own music no matter what fortunes it may, or may not, bring her.

There's nothing wrong with being confident in your ability. But the way she words her confidence is very snobbish and disrespectful.

Not the way to go about making connections in the music world... or any other part of society.

Not that I wouldn't give her respect if she changed her tone and gravitated back down to reality.

There's no arguing with that. She came off as a real arrogant, empty bitch. But hopefully she'll learn soon what that will....or will NOT...bring her.

I do not think I could ever be arrogant as far as music goes. But I concur with the rest of you, she should be alright if she tunes down that ego.

I am sure one day we might know. Irminsul, you were in a battle of the bands competition? What instrument did you use? I do not think I could go through with that competition, fearing I would get my assed kicked to the curb, lol.

Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.

I couldn't be arrogant like that about ANYTHING!

I'm very modest and if I acted like that I would expect an ass kicking in a split second.

I will admit that "I" think I am good at what I do though.. even though realty check probably shows I suck!

Egos can be a big problem in the music world.
I've been looking for a female vocalist for a couple years, and tried out several.
One of the one's I contacted let me know right up front, that she was a self-centered snob who expected anyone who worked with her to feel thankful, and to cater to her every whim.
,
Yeah, RIGHT! As if . . . .!
.
Another one had money, and was always bringing it up in conversations. One way or another, she would mention her masseuse, or her tenniss instructor, or the rich people she met, or all her cars, . . . . yadda yadda.
Yeah, yeah, you're rich, so you must be wonderful person, huh?
Sheeesh; stop trying to impress me with how much money you have . . . Stop TALKING, and sing, instead!
Even so, I could overlook all that, but had a real abbrasive personality, to boot; critical of everything.
And she wasn't anywhere good enough to be critical of anything . . .
.
I will NOT work with people with big egos. Not even for money . . .
Their loss, not mine . . .

At the time, it was guitar. And I ended up being in several of those "battles" until about age 22. Won some, lost some. But even the losses were instructional. BOTBs (Battle of the bands) are usually just publicity stunts for local music stores or studios, but at early stages of your career they can be helpful to win because the top prizes are often equipment, studio time, or good ol' cash.

I did not know you payed guitar. Thought it was the harp and piano/keyboard or something. At least that is what it says you have as equipment on your page. *Shrug* But yeah, those things can be good I guess. Money wise it is nice. I might enter one in the future if I have a band I feel is good enough. Just for the Hell of it, lol.

Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.
