I believe his songs are all remakes of very old delta blues songs.

Yeh, I thought about that later and it did remind me more of some Muddy Waters, or earlier stuff.

I'll preface this with - I like you JW123. I like your style and your energy. Your knowledge and attitude.

Having said that I have to say that by your defenition you respect the spice girls.

Mass appeal usually means less respect from me.

I can see liking or disliking George. "bad to the bone" rips of an ancient song that went something like....

"I'm a main (man) m...a....n

Perhaps, but he updated Hank Sr's "Move It On Over" like a good blues man would. Gawd I hate that song, but his version was good the 1st cpl hunnert times I heard it.

Thorogood's blues are one of the reasons that I tell any one you can be a bass player I mean, jeez...most of the bass lines are single notes repeated, if I remember right there is one song that's just quarter E's.....no variation...musicianship enh...preforming ability is okay...but not my thing I agree with the author

George T. is a NJ staple. His "ground meat voice" has rocked all over and started locally at John + Peter's in New Hope.

You may not like George, but I am sure he doesn't give a flying f**k what you think and the man has stage presence, even if I don't dig his genre either.

And no one ever asked his band to "turn it down", either.

Even tho I'm a redneck from down here in Texas. I used to jamb with one of the Original Texas musicians and I am ashaimed at the fact I haven't mentioned him untill now, a complete unknown as far as I know,
I have to tell you his name is "SHORTY MORRIS"

I haven't told you that I am from

GET DOWN PASADENA, TEXAS at 13 years of age I impressed Shorty with my fiddle playing and he had a son Carl Otis Morris that taught me my first blues rock song "House Of The Rising Son" From that point I was hooked,

Now Get Down Pasadena Texas in case you whippersnappers are not aware is the original home of the One and Only

"Gilley's"

Now I have lived my entire musical life trying to embrace who I am and trying to be proud of where I am from!

At the same time the first time I heard Born To Run, I could not believe what I was hearing. I thought and still think that the musical gods live in New Jersey,
I mean damn, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen,

SP,I still mean no disrespect, but the difference between you and GT are huge and anything but simple.
I hope you are really someone succesful and not a poser you know James Taylor didn't think he was all that. but I think you need a reality check bro.
I haven't really followed GT that much But one thing is for sure. He has made the record co. a lot more MONEY than you or me

My question to you is, do you really think your song's are that great!
and if the general public let alone someone like say Simon Cowell were to pass Judgement on your songs would you rather some unknown be presenting them or would you rather George Thororgood be presenting them.
My point is Rock & Roll is about attitude bro.
and one of the things I love about this site is we all keep each other in line and please good people don't stop callin me up & please keep me in line

Get this - the general public doesn't give a damn about whether or not you're a "great musician!" All they care about is how you make them FEEL with your product. The world isn't beating a path to anyone's door in this forum. Our job is to determine why they aren't, & fix it!

Some ppl wanna feel what they get from emo, others from blues, others from straight up partying stuff that may not even sound like music to some of us.

GT found his niche. The question is - can you find yours? Will ppl get your stuff & flock to enjoy it? Last I checked, SP, no one has ever promoted GT as being a "great musician." He's promoted as being what he is - a great party act with lotsa catchy stuff that the average Teamster or biker can get into. He doesn't need to be fluent in the many available scales, or be able to sing like a bird. He needs to work his ass off acting like he's having a great time, even if he has a frikken migraine or a busted toe. And that's just what he does, & he does it well. He doesn't draw the opera crowd. He doesn't draw the diehard jazz fan. He draws the average under-educated Joes out there who need something to lighten up their existences. He does it for them with lively stuff with simple words that anyone can understand, with no alliteration or complications. He's the small-town boy done good. Yeah he got lucky too, but would you begrudge him even that? I doubt very much that he bought his way to fame & fortune like Britanny Spears & her ilk. He worked his ass off for it.

I'll give kudos to anyone who's found that secret formula & made it work for them, no matter their genre (yeah - even rappers can find it!) or playing ability or the lack thereof.

Once again - it's about ENTERTAINMENT, NOT great chops. If your great chops draw ppl, then woohoo it's workin' for ya. If it's your sweet little-boy gay-sounding voice whining about lost love, then again, it's great that it's working for ya.

Most of us in here are searching for our niche in the public's ear & eye. Why slam others that have been successful at that which we seek? I guess it feels good to do so, but it doesn't erase the fact that we're jealous as hell of this guy! Or Madonna! Or LL Cool J! Or Dashboard Confessional! If they're producing what the market wants & you're not, then step back & look at what you're doing wrong....duh!

GT rocks. I don't even like his music and he rocked me.

The guy is a showman and even had a few drinks with my buddies after the show.

Jon Bon Blow Me sux, but if you knew how many acts he actually made possible, you have to give him credit.

I don't like JBJ's music, but I applaud the way he took so many bands under his wing and got them started and solidly going. I even hear he's honest.

So he's got me beat and he acts the good samaritan part.

Pisses me off a little, the guy could be at least a little bit of a jerk.
(like xyzpdq) lol

GT also packs a house.. (ouch)

PS: Van Halen is DEAD, just listen to the new music. dead as a doorknob.
