Weren't the Go-Go's an all girl band? Weren't they also the Bangles?

So there's two bands right there!

actually the gogo's is/are what I was thinking of when I said bananarama... after all bananarama had one hit... venus.
yes, I will concede the bangles would meet that def.

personally I enjoyed philby's replies the best... so condescending... so sexist... and seemingly unintentionally so.

lets face it... we're hard pressed to name but a handful of all girl bands that don't completely suck... yet we could name hundreds of unintentionally all male bands that are great.

again, not to say female performers suck... it's just that there are clearly fewer of them... perhaps because of the relatively recent civil rights movement... perhaps because they are simply so emotional.

then again, perhaps I'm just jealous...

I always like the Runaways which brought us Joan Jett and Lita Ford. I dont know why but I always liked the GO GOs. I used to play We Got The Beat in a punk outfit with a queer singer. I guess thats the closest I got to a girl band.

My daughter goes every year to one of those Rock Girl camps where they take a group of 10-17 yr old girls break them into groups teach them how to play and write music then have a concert at the end of the week. They are looking for volunteers and my daughter said I should volunteer cause she knows I could teach those girls how to play guitar. She said it was cool as long as I didnt talk to her until I was spoken too.

I personally think there is a lot of untapped potential in girl rockers in general. They bring their emotions to the table a lot quicker than guys do. For me songs and music need to stir some sort of emotion for me to want to keep listening.

Girl bands can be a bit gimicky...just my opinion. If it were a major goal of mine to be in an all girl band, I would be pickier because as soon as you step on stage, you will be judged so it is important that you prove yourself to be top notch material. Likewise, if I am auditioning for any band, I will give my best in an audition. My honest opinion, the Go Gos and the Bangles were too cutesy. Heart was gutsy and edgy, funky and had the attitude of a band. Sure there were guys in their band but it was the girls that drove it. Nancy was a very strong singer whom I would compare to Robert Plant. I don't know much about gutar playinh but Nancy's sister was cool. She held the guitar like a man...she still holds that guitar like a man and she still kicks up her foot. I have not heard any new stuff from Heart but I have heard them play their old stuff recently. Question: I am not the hippest when it comes to the speach of today so would someone tell me what does blows and blows heard mean? It really sounds complimentary but I could be wrong

unfortunately she couldn't play one like a man.
she's the singer on "these dreams" one of my fav heart songs... other than that song... and adding to the look of the band.... I'm not sure why she was there.
