LOL You are an evil man, JW, but funny..

I used to play a little with this one cat who you remind me of.
He used to crack jokes right before a serious tune and I'd be trying not to laugh.

Yea yea Capt.

My bassist Andy will come up in the middle of songs and switch the channels on my amp, kick in the wah, and sometimes he will come over and turn my guitar off, we both kinda kid with the tuning pegs on each others instruments in the middle of stuff. For a while when we went to drop D we would tune the others instrument for each other.

I remember one gig, our singer came over to me, and i thought he was gonna suggest a song, but he said "Did you fart?", ussually he will come over and say did you see the ta tas on that gal over there?

When someone else suggests a song, sometimes I will say What key is that in? Or how does that start? So yeah we ham it up all the time.

It really all depends on how you market yourself. To say you don’t make any money playing originals is not true. What most musicians do is let the venue do the advertising. I am a solo guy without a band. I take a more active approach to get gigs. I use Facebook, Youtube, Craigslist to promote our shows. I make videos and market the event and it works. You can also sell CDs of your music download cards and T-Shirts at these events. So you’re not limited to just what the club pays. I can tell you the main concern about the club is how many people came out. This is followed by did the people enjoy the band and will they come out again. Here is one of my video promotions.

It works. People show up when they see stuff like this. We got people waiting for the next event. The internet is a valuable tool for any musician looking to build a fan base and market their original music. I was asked backed before I got home from the gig via facebook.

Even though I made money this year I would still only do originals if I made nothing at all!
