Irminsul wrote:"No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country.
He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country."

- George S. Patton

But personally, dying for one's religion is the dumbest thing you can do. I stopped believing in my teens, that "God" wants more martyrs.

Lmao, I like the quote. Yeah, I do not believe in dying for religion, it is stupid. Like I said in the other thead, God needs us alive to do his work, not dead.

Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.

So here's the thing. I don't think that there is anything wrong or incompatible about christian metal. We has humans have tried to fix attributes to God that we don't completely know are true such as God is only pleased with the singing of a multitude of angels and with light sounding, uplifting music. We cannot begin to know what pleases God beyond the pure singing of praises to him. What's also funny about this is that we often associate metal music with Satan. He was the most beautiful angel in Heaven before God hurled him to earth, hardly the force that one would attach metal to. What I'm basically trying to get at is that music in itself is neither good nor bad. Music is simply music. One must look at the message that is being delivered through the music. "Gospel sounding" music that blasphems (sp?) Christ is just as bad as metal or techno that does it. Also, metal that praises God is just as good as gospel music that praises God.

Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.

GA this reminds me of this incredibly stupid shows on TV some years ago (they may still be on) of these musclebound idiots who bend steel and bite boards in half because they "are filled with the spirit of Christ"...have you ever seen these things? They have this metal music blaring in the background, and the no-necks are screaming out "I call to you JESUS help me overcome this stack of bricks JESUS!" and then he head butts them and they break and the crowd goes wild...

Worse than a freak show.

Irminsul, lmao. I do not know of that, it sounds familiar though. That is f*cking crazy, that is another thing I have always thought was dumb, why are we praying to Jesus or God for stupid things like breaking bricks with our head? I think they have better things to tend to, lol, and I do not mean this offensively, but yeah.

I do not know, that sounds nuts. I just cannot see breaking a board with my fist and praying before I do so... Lol. I mean, I can see me about to do surgery on someone to save their life and praying, but not for something so stupid like martial arts.

I hate this topic, lol. It brought out the worst in me prior, and now I get the feeling it is going to happen again... Beware people! I am about to turn into... Dun dun duh! "Anti-Religious-Conversation Man," ooh... Creepy...

Lmao.

Peace out, GuitarAnatomy.

You want a good piece of advice? Shut your mouth about religion before someone take offense to your words, whether they be based in fact or fiction.
It doesn't matter at all, except for the fact that you don't know when to let it drop. But believe me when I say if the right person gets irked, you'd be picking up your teeth from off the ground and praying that aren't staring down the barrel of a firearm. (happened to me already)

Stick to what you know about music, you'd be better off. Politics is bad enough. Leave the religion out of it. People are going to believe what they want to and for you to spout off about it shows lack of wisdom/forethought.

As soon a just ONE of the posters on here could perform as good or even close to any of the members of Stryper's level of musicianship then you got a job here!
Hey, I think music is just as it is... Most of todays new metal has actually been performed 20 to 30 years ago and to me that isn't very innovative.
That's the problem with young people today.. they think someone's going to try to convert them if you have some biblical emphasis to the name of the band but has anyone ever heard of a concept?
I look @ it this way... they are doing it and are world reknowned... I'm not... are you?
Time to humble ourselves I feel...

Well guys, it's been interesting scanning through the pages and pages of expression about music and metal and other types of music. The way I see it is that no matter what kind of music you are into or the era of music that means the most to you. It is that type of music that usually comes out when someone is converted to christianity. I can't say for other religions but I know that we are all moved by different types of music and even though one person may not understand how another could be touched or moved by a certain kind of music, isn't it great that we are free to be able to use our gifts that we have been given and our style of music and as long as our hearts are true to whatever our faith, I think that God, as we know him, to all faiths, if He is truly a loving God who loves us as his children, then it is beautiful to Him. He knows our hearts and that is what is important to know, is that if our heart is to sing or play in the only way we know how to, to our God and our God loves us as one of his children, he will honor that and accept us and love us. He says to come as we are, we are who he created us to be and that way all people can be touched through different methods of music. I hope this makes some sense. I feel like I'm trying to say something encouraging to all but I hope it truly comes out that way. :?:

God bless you all,
Guitarga :)
