Hi guys,

I picked up a Behringer Tube ULTRAGAIN MIC100

This is a High-End Vacuum Tube Preamplifier with a built-in Limiter and it really does the trick adding warmth I can hear but not record when jacking a semi acoustic straight in to the desk.

Also enhances condenser mics and provides phase reverse and +48 V phantom power. Great for Vocals and instrument mics on accoustics.

I got it for £37.99 - not sure what the US price is.

Noise is lowered and sound is clean. Remember to leave plenty of headroom when recording so you get the full spectrum of sound.

Make sure you jack into LINE-IN on your desk. Set you EQ's to default and do some test recording. Then adjust EQ's and re-record at a few different settings. Stick the same Vocals on each and output for listening on a few different sources (car stereo, MP3 player and the cheap stereo your mate has in the kitchen).

Hope that helps.

Hi Mattki.
Thanks for this. A friend offered up a similar piece of kit to try too. Probably the way to go I suspect at some point.

Hayden I hear you bro.
