will be holding auditions on the weekend of Apr. 11th for the following:

musicians to form a fun dance band specialising in Soul & Funk of the '50s, '60s & '70s.

Looking for guitarist (who plays lead & rhythm), keyboardist (not opposed to playing horn lines as well),
bassist (who can pop, slap and solo) and drummer (with strong jazz, blues & funk grooves), and 1 to 2 female vocalists (who are comfortable singing lead & backing vocals). Vocal ability from instrumentalists a plus.

Must be 21 yrs old or older and have professional experience (sorry, no amateurs). Good showmanship, work habits a must! Setlist & web address to video clip of what I'm looking for below.

I should have prefaced with IMO.

yah but in my opinion I totally agree with you, bleh....only reason I would find myself subconsciously moving to any of those tunes is cuz it was being played live and like any rocker you're a sucker for live music (unless its truely terrible or there is somethin wrong with it)

These tunes look great to me. Lively, recognisable, fun to play & a wide range of ages will love them.

I've done the reggae "Hey Joe," & wtf's wrong with that, huh?

Geez, you guys can be so clannish when it comes to different approaches to music. It ain't ALL rock, ya know! Try to do some of that Motown & do it justice.

Watch the documentary "Standing In The Shadows Of Motown" sometime. You'll gain a whole new respect for the genre & the musicianship. Those ppl went through hell, played on more hits than Elvis, the Beatles & the Stones COMBINED, & never got any credit for their work, on any album cover. They were session musicians who wrote most of the music that Smokey Robinson got the credit for. They were treated very well in some ways, by the record co, but in others, they were slaves to the system.

I doubt if you can even imagine playing & recording & even touring, in some cases, for over 100 SUCCESSFUL acts in your career.

But it ain't rock, so that makes it less worthy? Pffft!

I'd like to see ANY of your acts "rock the house" like Sly Stone or Wilson Picket or Sam & Dave or.....

These tunes look great to me. Lively, recognisable, fun to play & a wide range of ages will love them.

yeah, everyone between 50 and 120 will love em well, except me!
