I never said the United States was without blame. We have done a lot of stupid things. Perhaps we have meddled in foreign affairs to the detriment of those countries we were meddling in. Do you think Europe is better off today than it was right at the end of WWII, how about Japan? We are already seeing that Iraq is dramatically improving. Afghanistan is improving. These things take TIME. They don't happen overnight, HUrricane Katrina was handled badly, but where do you start rehabilitating an area of devastation the size of Kansas (over 80,000 square miles)? Everybody expects us to snap our fingers and instantly produce results. Farming experiments have gone wrong in THIS country as well (the dust bowl was a result of poor farming techniques). This is nothing new. Farming everywhere in the history of mankind has depleted the soil. AS far as the documents you're talking about, yeah I"ve read them. Yeah we"ve done some stupid things. Yeah people were not held to account for their actions. It's called politics my friend. In order to want to be in power in any country you almost by definition have to be a psychopath. All I know is the bottom line, despite all our evils when people visit other countries they invariably come back to the evil USA and kiss our soil and thank God they live here. As bad as we are there are FAR WORSE places to live ruled by FAR WORSE scumbags than our rulers. Think how lucky we are to be able to vote people out of power or impeach them if necessary. Wouldn't the Iranians like to impeach Assholedidajob or the North Koreans impeach Kim Ill Dung? By the way, in Iraq the last election they had there was virtually no violence. Also our stinking liberal news media almost had zero reporting on their election. Maybe the Iraqis are finally appreciating the right to vote. Maybe they're happy that old Saddam was hung by the neck until he cheered up. Maybe it was worth our being in Iraq in a big way. Even Obama who originally campaigned on ending our "occupation" there immediately backed off and put our withdrawl further out. Anway I don't want to talk about all this political stuff, this IS a musicians website after all..

Iraq improving?
Afghanistan improving?
We have spent a small countries GNP on FEMA in order to be prepared for emergencies and that is what we got?
And what has been more political than music?

Sorry Bob, I just don't see your reasoning on this one, but we can still slay some walleye together :)

Haven't really fished much for walleye. I've caught a few, including a few big ones (3-6 pounders). Kansas isn't particularly known for walleye, but we've got a lake nearby which is rated number 1 in the state. There's some ten pounders in there. I saw an absoutely huge one follow my lure almost to my feet and even bump it a few times with its mouth closed. Could have been 8-10 pounds. They seem to like chartreuse. Just about every one I've caught was on something with some chartreuse on it. We've got to start hitting the dam at Hillsdale (the lake I was talking about). They may already be done spawning. Off the dam and below the spillway is where a lot of them are caught. Most of the walleye fisherman use either long crankbaits, jig and minnow, or jig and twister tail. I've caught most of mine on Mepps and Dardevles, and a few on jigs. We've got quite a few lakes that have saugeye, a hybrid between sauger and walleye that are stocked in reservoirs that have large populations of stunted panfish. I've caught a number of saugeye. When I lived in Knoxville, Tn for a while I caught some sauger. Probably the best eating fish that swims in fresh water although large bluegill (1/2 to 1 pounders) are pretty tough to beat for taste.

I like Crappe fried for taste. Really dont care much for catfish, with the exception of a Channel Cat. He is a preditor, not feeding off bottom improves flavor IMO.
I love to snorkle around a big Crappe bed. I often forage muscles from the shallows, split them with my dive knife and start a feeding frenzy amung the Cappe and Perch. If you maintain it long enough the bass will be attracted as well. Unfortunatly the visability is poor in East Texas lakes and one must watch for Cottonmouth.

Yeah, Sans, I smoked some stuff one time that gave me poor visibility AND cottonmouth 8)

LOL yeah I never come home from fishin without a couple o red eyes and a cotton mouth.
WOW 10 pound Walleye! I've never landed one over 4. They're not a fun to catch fish (like reelin in a shoe) but they're tasty. Bluegill crappie & walleye are some o my faves for sure. I Like catfish gumbo a lot too! Saugeye, or sauger are like flies at the falls on the Ohio River in Louisville.

Reelin in a shoe? You sure you didn't pour a vat of whiskey in the water before you fished? I've caught a few walleye that gave me about the best fight of anything I ever caught. Maybe it was because the water in these reservoirs around here fluctuates so rapidly. There's current everywhere and the fish get strong fighting the current, especially in the spillways. When I lived in Knoxville I caught a three pound sauger. I took it home and filleted it real quick and put it in a big frying pan. I had to give my friend a ride home and told my brother (God rest his soul) he could eat some of the sauger and save me some. When I got back home (fifteen minutes later) there was one little piece of fish left. My brother was sitting at the table wiping his face with a big smile. "I told you to leave me some, not a crum" I said. "Boy that was the best fish I ever ate!" my brother said. Damn it he ate 99% of a three pound sauger by himself in fifteen minutes! Never caught another one that big...

George, you mention channel cat as a predator. I catch a bunch of channel cats each year on lures (I don't use bait). They love Mepps spinners. A couple of years ago I went to Atchison State fishing lake, which is about a 70 acre lake just north of the city of Atchison, Ks. There was an old guy sitting in front of his tent and about 100 yards away a family eating breakfast in front of their camper. Anyway I park my car and walk down to the lake. Everybody is watching me and I tie on my #2 Black Fury (orange dots) and first cast catch about a five pound channel cat. The old guy goes walking over to the family and I overheard him say "I"ve been fishing all night without a bite and this guy walks up and catches a catfish on the first cast." While he's talking I get another hit on my next cast. I land a real nice crappie. "That son of a bitch did it again." They all come over and start watching me fish and I land a bunch of largemouth bass and bluegills (small ones) in about a half hour. Channel cats can be very active. Most people fish on the bottom for catfish but there's a good chance the channels are swimming above the bait. They like the colors gold, orange and yellow by the way. Mepps Black Furies work well on them I've found...

I don't believe that the Mepps Black Fury #2 with red or orange or yellow spots exist. They're a myth. I've looked for them for a year, now, & not one damned store in a 100 mile radius carries anything but the zero & #1!
