when I plug my microphone into my computer I get no feedback.
I want to upload a sample of my singing, but I cant because I cant get it to work.
what could be the problem

Open the "sound" or "mixer" properties box in whatever system you're running, and you should see the bar slide for the mic, and other stuff.
You should see a check box that says "mute". Make sure it's unchecked!

That's the quick fix...hopefully you don't have more complicated problems than that!

the cord could be broken.
The xlr prongs on the mic could be bent or broken.
The wires on the inside of the mic could be torn.
the mic jack on your computer could be f**k up.

What kind of mic? usb? Plugging it into the 1/8" jack into the soundcard??

Yeah, you need to give us more details on what kind of mic you're using.
