FearsEnd- I just listened (again) to your posted music here and that's some pretty pro sounding stuff there. Was that recorded in a studio?
Also, you're 'looking for a lead guitarist"? That shredder on "Integrity" at about 3:00 sounds like he's doing a pretty good job there.. did you - all break up? If it's none of my business, n/m..

Just wanted to comment to FearsEnd - That's some seriously tasty music.. I like the "electronica rock" description... very progressive, and very agressive. My hat is off to you.

Our local rock station has incorporated a local music night called local 103, which lasts a few hours a night, once a month (usually on the last Sunday of the month) and we have been on there about 5 or 6 times now. They also do whats called a pay for play, in which people pay money to here songs from all styles on the rock station (yeah its kinda weird to here country and rap on a rock station) Anyway, a few people called in, and requested a few of our songs we had submitted. It cost them $100 a pop to get the radio station to play them. We pretty well know everyone who works at the station, so one day I ask one of them how we could get regular play, and they told us that if enough people called in and requested one of our songs, that they would have no choice but to start playing it, but that it would be during the red eye hours between 1 and 6 am. Yeah...Well that never happened, but it was good to know.

Yes.
It was in support of a big new years eve bash that a radio station was having. Plus we combined that with a cd release party that we advertised.
We had a short interview on air leading up to the new years eve party, and we had a tune that was slipped into the regular rotation between 10pm and 5am for about 5 days preceding the bash.
Not prime time, but it was still a kick in the pants to hear a song of ours come on like any other old song. (Was working nights part-time during those days).
So it wasn't exactly that we just sent a CD into a station and got played, but the end result was great.

There were two other bands playing that night, if memory serves - capacity for the room was around 200 people I think, and it never dropped below capacity for about 4 hours. I'm pretty sure that it was over capacity most of the time.
As people left, more would come in.

It was an eye opener to the power of radio and radio advertising.

I think you still need to spread out and tour as well. Many bands have 250,000 plays on myspace and a strong following in their area but as was said, the new wears off and you start losing your base. You have to play for more new audiences, and therefore less frequently to each one. This keeps you fresh and more viable for booking agents. Then it seems to be either who you know, or a little luck of getting the right ear.
