did some studio recording for a gal's CD project on Saturday & realized that at his studio rate of $35.00/hour, why in the world would I spend tons of my time & money being a 'recording engineer' at home,(trying to be) when I can walk in & get that kind of quality sound?

sheesh
my wife thought it was a brilliant epiphany...

Wow $35 / hr ? I thought $80/hr was a good rate.

Piper,
It seems that decent studios are more reasonably priced these days, probably due to the fact that, thanks to modern technology, the determined musician CAN get a good recording at home. Competition is a good thing.

yeah, that & combined with the fact that the dude is a Doctor (though now practices 1 day a week)..he's got capital that many others do not starting out.
Not sure if he'll maintain that rate, but it's great while he does!
