Yeah, but if you write an ass-kicker of a song and the right person hears it, people will be falling all over themselves to make money off of you. ERRRR... to help you be successful.
If you really have the talent to sustain it, you'll be on your way.
There are other things like image and age biases, but if you don't mind just publishing music and making some money... one great song and the right ears will do it.
Oh, and having it together enough to protect yourself and not get made love to in an abrasive way.

Dang it Alan. I was trying to do the KISS method. You know keep it simple. But for sure any endevor can out grow the individual.
I pray that day comes sooner than latter. Advertising is expensive in most any form. Word of mouth is the best they say but it's damn slow or so it would seem.

In my experience radio advertisement associated with some event that a station is putting on is the best.
If it's in the stations interest, they will play the add out the wazoo.
Just make sure you kick some azz when the place is at capacity.
