Many years ago I was in an army where the rat packs (rations for field use) contained either spam or bully beef. Both sucked pretty badly.

Recently I couldn't resist - I thought, 'It couldn't be as bad as I remember it.' In fact, it wasn't - but I still wouldn't serve it to guests unless I wanted to get them out the door!
