I'm not here to argue. I'll leave you alone. It's just something that I probably see in a completely different light than you, since I'm 40. Here's what it was like in the early 80's. My mom would pick me up from school, and we would hear the theme songs from tv shows and movies that were hot at the time on the radio. They would be mixed in with Steely Dan, Boz Skaggs, Sade, etc. I can remember hearing "For Your Eyes Only" constantly, then one day I heard the premier of the theme from "Never Say Never" (didn't catch on quite as well as "Eyes"). It was even on top 40 stations. Air Supply, REO Speedwagon, on and on. That's what "Soft Rock" means to a person my age. Maybe that's something that is creating a disconnect between yourself and the musicians you seek. Might be time to think about the importance of the labels you choose. I know labels suck. That's why I have this long diatribe about them as my signature. I just care about music. I care about musicians. I care about you, a total stranger. I hope you find some good folks to play with. That's all.
