I like metal

i just signed up on this site today and i've been reading thru some of the forum posts and i saw this,i had to say something.
I got a "metal" project of my own called the BROWN BAG DRUNKS and it has been sh*t on by almost every player i know,even the most hardcore underground metal people.
I try to get players to come over,add a vocal or do a solo or whatever,all i get is 'yea,well,you should come by and jam with US sometime"
I always hear"dude,this stuff will never sell,no one wants to hear this crap"
I really do not f**k care.I played in pop bands,a TOOL-ish type band and a buncha metal bands ranging from hairmetal covers to melodic death metal(lol) and I've never been as happy with any of that as i am with the stuff i do as theBBD.
I played what everybody THOUGHT the public wanted to hear.Yea,the shows were great,the beers were plentiful and the boobs were huge,but the box was very small and everyone was afraid to step outside of it.
I dont know if they still are or not,I dont even care.
I dont care if what anyone thinks what I'm doing is crap,I am doing what makes ME happy.f**k the rest of it,really.
Hey,I dig how they add the lil stars to your curse words,but then I'm easily amused.
Anyway,let 'em bash,I say.I'm gonna make music anyway so I might as well do it my way.

I like metal

That's cuz you play one of the few TRULY "metal" instruments, Mary!

I was studying music theory to become a better bass player / song writer. I switched first to five string bass, then ultimately I opened that dusty case and pulled out the guitar.

I found I needed at least six strings. When I realized I was going to start playing lead I looked around and there was Nightwish and then Dave Mustane, Judas Priest and company - they seemed to be the kind of folks to model oneself on since they had such superior technical ability. And in Mustaine's case - all that aggression. (beats a metronome)

Hate the growlers though. Just sounds silly. Most of 'em are too young to be that angry - just wait guys...

The metal community is kind of strange though - folks seem to spend a lot of time debating about how authentic one outfit or another is. in the end, its only music - but you do get to use the 'F' word a lot!

Ultimately I say this do your own thing, without regard to opinions that state otherwise. Hate is a easily dispensable medium. Being yourself is more important. I respect some may like or dislike a type of music. It is not for me to say of that. I'll just listen to what I listen to. Often times the bashing all over reminds me of when we were teens. I'm far from being a teen. And I'll save my complaining until I am in my 70's. If I am lucky to live that long to complain. -heh- For the rest .. enjoy life .. and remember your buddy might have a beer left in the fridge.

I do growls and screams. Maybe not the greatest. I honestly don't care. I enjoy it. As others enjoy what they do. I'll always do it regardless =)

p.s. Not so angry. -heh- I am actually a very nice guy if you get to know me. And down to earth. For fun I have even growled to the old 80's music -heh- Love the 80's music honestly. Kind of got that same aspect with my art.

Not metal but bands like : Neon Synthesis really have me liking that mix.

Honestly I'd love to get in a band like this. Doesn't have to be exactly metal. Just somewhere where I can put my voice to it.
