oops forgot Stevie Wonder! It amazes me that a man can have more vision than most people with eyes. He's a genius with an epic soul.

I don't see Morrissey mentioned on this thread before your post. Was it deleted?

I have always loved Morrissey's lyrics, they actually have meaning and speak to a lot of people. His words got a lot of people through their early years, people who were depressed or just outsiders. Why would you include "liberal douche" when referring to him? You couldn't just judge his art, you have to attack the man? Words are like boomarangs, they can fly back and hit you in the head.

I like Saul williams, but seriously? I guess it's just personal preference but I think Peter Murphy, GPO, and cLOUDDEAD are better. Saul Williams is often direct with his writing, which isn't necessarily bad, but I like it when people describe things in unconventional ways.

So far nobody has mentioned Dylan...weird. His lyrics often overpower the music at times. He's almost as good as Dillan.

Syd Barret goes unsung in this one too. That guy went to other dimensions.

dylan naturally but i also think, and dont chastise me for this, tupac shukar...i had an argument with a professor about this. i dont know how many of u listen to the good rap music. just like rock, rap has turned to feces as well. neither genre is what it once was lyrically.

Tupac was a kid with a high IQ, educated mentors, with a leadership he was born with. I wonder how much he would have to say today.

thank you kruliosis. a lot of ppl dont even realize how smart the dude was. he went to a good school and was provided a pretty good education. but as it seems happens with all the excessively talented he was taken from us too early so we'll never know what he'd be sayin today. i'd love for him to chop down the artists out today.

Billy Joel...maybe not the greatest ever, but could certainly create an image through words.
