We are local to Sarasota, FL. Looking for gigs and possibly an agent/manager. We do mostly originals and some covers. Anyone familiar or knowledgeable to some whereabouts or people? Check out a few sample songs of ours: 7 Wicked Genius.
Thanks!

Agents/managers don't look for projects to develop. They only deal with bands that are already working and making enough money for them rob 20% off the top.

In the age of the internet, you can do a google search and find every venue in any area you are willing to play. Don't call and ask if you can play, call and tell them you're a touring band and you've got dates open from ____ to _____, and then on the way back from ____ to _____, and if that doesn't work, you'll be heading that way again from ____ to ____. The trick is to not give them a yes or no question, but instead an option of dates to choose from.

The truth is, to be successful, you'll have to be able to travel outside of Sarasota quite a lot. When you do that, you'll come home a hero and more people will come to your local shows.

Good luck with all that. :)

Some bars use agents to book their entertainment these days - it's easier than using a bar manager who doesn't know what to look for or where to find what he wants. These 'agents' only book for the bars, not for the bands, but they still take their 20% from the band's money.
Unless you are planning on touring, like Yod suggests, hit the places near you that you would like to play, ask who books the bands.
