I'm looking at buying a Marshall head and cab. I don't fancy an ss model (MG etc) I've heard bad things about the Valvestate models so I want all valve but which one is best value?
I want to use it not put it in a museum so it don't need to be ancient but which is likely to be best value?
Any recommends appreciated

My next purchase will most likely be the new Class5.
I find low wattage all tube amps to be the best for getting the tone I want with a workable stage volume.
I have been impressed with my Carvin VT16 giving me the same tones of my Nomad with a very workable volume.
The various sound clips I have heard from the Class5 have also been impressive.
As it comes in either a HEAD only or a COMBO.
The HEAD has outputs for both 16 and 8 ohm loads.
The COMBO has an 0.5 watt option switch that allows headphone only use for " bedroom" practice.

Iv'e had my 100 watt jcm 900 now for 20 years & still enjoy it. I got it used at a pawn shop for $660. Last year was the first time I put new tubes in it.
I have the full stack.

If you buy a Marshall and it doesn't have tubes, you made a mistake.

A Marshall amp is a one trick pony but it is a pretty sweet trick. They always sound best when wide open. My fav is the JCM 800. Have fun and proceed to blow the doors down.
