Pre-Amp question

Hey people!

I've bought a Rode NT1-A Mic and didn't realise it doesn't connect directly to my laptop.

I'm new to recording vocals and was wondering is it a pre-amp needed to connect it to my laptop?
If so I've found one for £20, is that how much they usually are? It's called a SubZero SZ-PPA1 Phono Preamplifier.

Thanks :D

Nope noope NOPE!

What you need is an audio interface with phantom power. Connects to the computer with USB, provides 48v power to the mic.

Assume you are in the UK, Thomann is the usual place people use over there for gear. You might be able to find cheaper Audio interfaces, but the lowest one I would recommend to you would be this one:

I agree with the recommendation. My first audio interface was a Steinberg and it served me well as a starter. There are many options to choose from, and I think that focusrite and universal audio (the arrow) are also good starters.
