My favorite has been a Ghost 5B from Kittools, a birch stick, but they aren't around anymore. Well, the factory in Maine still makes sticks, but for other companies, I guess.
Anyway, I began getting maple sticks off ebay, made by woodworkers out there, at ridiculously low prices for dozens of sticks. Most of these guys sell straight as an arrow sticks, too. I've gotten a couple sticks with slight warpage, but I'll take it, considering the price I pay for them. They all make hickory, too, if you play hickory, and have nylon tips, if you use those, as I do. The sticks come unfinished. I put a finish on them.

I use Zild. 5B wood tips, because they are cheap, at the start of the night, when we aren't playing as loud, then switch to Pro Mark White Oak 5B nylons for later. I often use a 5B Pro Mark White Oak wood tip in my right hand for one handed rim shots for backbeat on quiet songs. I particularly like the oak sticks for their brightness on rimshots and their uniformity.
I have Ahead 5Bs I have used off and on for several years, usually because of arthritis flairing up, and have yet to use the second set of sleeves. They seem to keep my hands from hurting when the "Big A" flares up.

I used to play with the Regal tip marching series sticks-Quantum 1000's and Quantum 9000's with one of my previous bands.I am currently using the Zildjian Signature Series ZAK STARKEY sticks-I like them the most for the way I am playing with my new group-they have good balance and alot of power when you need it and they seem to last awhile too.

Then I found Regal Tip 4B nylon tip sticks (now discontinued since about 1997). They were once the longest and beefiest sticks I could find.
Then I tried Ahead sticks around 1994-95, and I was in heaven. No more heat and vibration. And my first pair lasted about 10 years, not sure how many sleeves I bought, though.
Now I am on my second pair of Tommy Lee signature Ahead sticks. I can't brag about them enough.
I use Vic Firth (nylon tip) 7-A's
But I have been into the Ludwig brand as of late also (nylon)

Ahead 5A, Vic Firth 5A. Ahead's are pretty hit-and-miss, they either break and get sliced up immediately or they might last a couple of years. For that reason I also use Vic Firth.
I use Axis Pearl Sabian Tama
Lately I have been using the Vic Firth, Jack Dejohnette stick. It is like a traditional 5A except just a little longer. For times when I need to play softer or with a lighter touch I have been using the Vic Firth, Steve Gadd stick. It's more like a 3A. Both are very well balanced sticks.
i have used so many different sticks its hard to say what is best, different sticks make different sounds jest as different heads do,so it all depends on what sound you want and where you are playing, wooden tip dampens the sound especially on the cymbals, where nylon tip gives more of a sharpness.as for size, well it depends on what am playing and how much of a work out i want to give my wrist its all good and whatever you use rock on drummers cuz we make everyone sound good. BUT I use whatevers on sell
