...3 long years looking for a resonator (Dobro-National-Ozark) with no luck.

They either are mistreated by previous owner -
New in the shop and dont sustain.
Couldnt produce a harmonic if its life depended on it
Are completely the wrong feel or sound
Have neck that was designed for Hulk Hogan
Scratched to Death
Dented
Made of wood instead of the steel I desire
Are so poorly crafted I could do a better job with a blow torch and some solder
New but the finish is already deteriorating

...anyone in these forums an expert on Single and Tri-cone resonators, I'd really like to hear your stories and any advice you can throw my way

thx

Al

In my best New York accent only a limey Brit can do...

..."That's why I'm seeking an expoit"

I dont think I can do a Southern accent in a forum ... fu' y'aaaall

If I tried a Texan accent, you'd probably shoot me

All-steel dobros are pretty rare. You'll have an easier time getting a wood one with resonator.

Hi MikeB

I tried the wooden one's -- they seem a compromise in quality and the sound is not quite right, certainly on the one's I've tried.

I'll keep on trucking I guess and keep wandering in the shops

Techniques for playing a resonator are a whole different animal.

Just like a violin, you must become one with the instrument and feel its soul... "so to speak"

Regal guitars make reproductions of 1920's Nationals and Dobros at a reasonable price. All steel with wood necks, built to the specs of the originals. I bought a reproduction of a 1928 Duolian, single cone resonator ,used, for $300. great sound and a very comfortable neck.
