Hey all I have a story for ya...

Have you ever heard of Ilse DeLange? Well I hadn't untill last week. I found her new profile on Myspace. I saw that she only had 3 friends and could tell it was a new profile. I invited her to my friends and moved on.

After listening to her music, I fell in love with her voice and one of her songs "I Still Cry". You know when you have a song hit you just the right way...? Well, when I heard it, I pictured a woman sitting near her lovers grave and talking(singing) to him while she made paper flowers for him. I also imagined that her lover was looking down from heaven agonizing over her sadness. He could hear her but could not speak to her. He could only sing along.

I wrote a couple of lines and dubbed over the song creating a duet of sorts. Took me like 60 takes, and two days cuz all I use is a cheap-ass mic plugged into my computers soundcard. I dont have any editing programs or any of that stuff, so I had to get the mic level, and reverb just right. (still not great but not terrible either) I sent Ilse a message saying what I had done with her song, and where she could listen to it and waited.

So meanwhile, I am dying for her to hear what I have done to her song. She had not logged in in a couple of days. So im visiting her myspace again and I actually read her bio this time... this woman is a platinum album seller in The Netherlands! Ok NOW im nervous!! I had already sent her the song!!!

So for the past night I am like stalking my "sent" box to see if she had recieved the message, that I had posted her song on my Beta Records Site. Today when I woke up, I found she had recieved my message!

I have not recieved word back from her. So I think, she either has not listened because of lack of interrest... Woman is prolly used to over eager fans and stuff. OR she is about to slap a lawsuit on my ass for alterring her song and posting it LOL!!

I just realized that the profile I visited may not have been created by Ilse DeLange at all, but perhaps another fan.

...only on Myspace right?!

Anyways, I just wanted to share that with ya. If you want to listen to the " I Still Cry Duet", heres the link:

best wishes to all

Ok after finding that Ilse had not heard the Duet, I looked up her contact info and found her fanclub...E-mailed them with the above story, and got a reply this morning!

"Hi Jerry,

I had a good laugh when I read this story...hahahaha...
Just listened to 'I Still Cry' and it sounds really good. Ilse writes
most
songs herself, but ISC is originally written by Julie Miller. It's
indeed a
great song...
I've forwarded your mail to Ilse

Ilse is very busy promoting her new Album 'The Great Escape' now, but
she'll
will listen to it.
You can check her out at www.ilsedelange.com

It was nice to hear from you...

Kind regards,
Dionza"

Yeah I know her, she is fom Holland, just like I and she has had several real big hits over there. Sh eis very talented, has a lot of soul and does some fantastic, breathtaking countrysinging. I still have her first record, World of Hurt. That album is phenomenal, it actually was a huge production recorded and all in Nashville with a very big producer.

You really gotta pick up that album, it is really really good, if you love her already. It will blow your mind if you dig the genre (it is poppy but very very country/western vocals-wise) The songs are real catchy and she does a tremendous job with the vocals on it. Her biggest hits came from that album.
Yeah Ilse totally rocks!!

I am living in L.A. now but of course always proud when I see mention of some Dutch artists..
